The definition of Jyotish or Vedic astrology

this is a holy science of prediction originated in India during the Vedic period. The Vedang (limbs of Veda) the Hindu scriptures of custom and practice has been divided into 6 parts such as Shiksha (science of pronunciation), Chhanda (Vedic hymns), Vyakaran (Grammar), Nirukta (Etymology of Veda), Jyotish (Vedic astrology) and Kalpa (Vedic Ritual). The jyotish is considered as the eyes of Vendang. As we know the human being is incomplete without the presence of eyes, so in Vedang. It is incomplete with the absence of Vedic jyotish. This is a part of Vedang that deals with astronomy and astrology. So the astrologer who is well versed in jyotish (Indian system of astrology) should have knowledge of astronomy the movement of stars and planets on the heavenly body. The science of Jyotish is a technology which not only predicts the human fate by means of the stars and planets but also fixes the auspicious time to undertake any activities. Basically, the auspicious time is fixed by the planets such as; Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu on the celestial body. There are many sorts predictive system prevailing in India and has spread all over the world. Currently, Parasharic astrology is in vogue. So, the Parshara Shamhita is a popular ancient Vedic classic on astrology. Apart from this, there are other predictive system prevailing across the world such as; Jaimini Jyotish and Bhrigu Jyotish etc. There are treatises like Parashar Shamhita, Phala Deepika, Saravali, Briht Jatakam and Prasna Marg considered being more scientific and accurate

The origin of Vedic Jyotish


The jyotish or Indian vedic astrology is a predictive science that speaks all about human fate. It is by far the old predictive science by means of nine planets heavenly abode. The jyotish has an esoteric meaning in Sanskrit i.e. ( ja-yo-teesh) means science of light. It popularly known as vedic astrology around the world. Further, it is synonymous to hindu predictive science or Indian astrology. The art of foretell basically originated from Veda the sacred scripture of Hindu. Jyotish is the study of planetary influence on human being as well as entire creation. In a nutshell, the entire world is impacted by the planetary forces on the celestial body. The Three Divisions of Jyotish or Vedic astrology

The traditional jyotish has been divided into three parts such as Sidhhant, Samhita and Hora. Siddhant Those who are well versed in Siddhant (astronomy) are called Sidhhants (astronomer) The Sidhhants deals with arrangement of the stars and planets on celestial abode and its movement. There are many popular books on Sidhhants such as; Arya Bhattiyam and Surya Samhita by Aryabhatta, Sidhhant Siromani by Bhakaracharya and Briht Samhita by Varahmihir etc. These books contribute the knowledge of mathematics and astronomy. Moreover, these treatises are being used for the purpose of almanac which helps to cast the horoscope of a baby. Samhita Those who are at home with Samhita are called Samhitas. This science deals with the prediction pertaining to earthquacke, floods, economic affairs, volcanic eruptions, epidemic, weather, agriculture and rainfall etc. The science of predicting mundane affairs are called mundane astrology. Hora The science of Hora deals with the predication of human affairs. The horoscope is calculated as per the planetary position on the sky at the time of birth. The 12 zodiac sign (Rashi) and 9 planets (Nav grah) are taken into account while foretelling human fate. The auspicious time or Muhurt is also fixed by the help of Hora Shastra. It is called electional astrology in English. The Hora Shastra or predictive astrology is popularly known as Indian astrology in the western world.

The Vedang
The Vedang is the part of Veda i.e. the limbs of Veda the holy scripture of Hinduism. The Veda has possessed Vedang, Upanishads, Itihas and Vedic astrology etc. The Vedic astrology has been comprehensively described in Vedang. The Vedang has been divided in to six part such as; Shiksha, Chhanda, Vyakaran, Nirukta, Jyotish and Kalpa. Shiksha Shiksha is the part of Vedang that teaches all about pronunciation, syllables and conjunction etc. which teaches the student to recite Vedic hymns accurately.

Chhanda Chhanda Shastra is used to construct the versatile Vedic hymns. It was probably written during 5th century BC to 6th century BC. Vyakaran Vyakaran deals with Sanskrit grammar that tells all about the origin of words, making complex sentences and formation of words etc. Nirukta Nirukta deals especially with the etymology of incomprehensible words those are available in Veda. Basically, it is the dictionary of complex and obscure words of Veda. Jyotish Jyotish is the predictive technic available in the Veda that tells all human fate. The horoscope is cast as per the planetary movement on the sky at the time of birth. The entire world is influenced by the planetary forces. Kalpa Kalpa says all about rituals, sacrifice and ceremonies as per the scripture of Veda. All the household ritual, sacrifices and ceremonies have been written extensively in this sacred scripture.

An Introduction to Yantra
The Indian Vedic astrology has remained intact due to the presence of remedial measures. There are many kinds of remedial measure in astrology such as gemstones, Rudraksha, Yantra, Mantra and many other kinds of remedy. Yantra is one of them.
