Read the text below and complete the following tasks.

A few years ago a friend studying at Brunel University was lucky enough to grab a seat in a packed lecture hall to hear an address given by an eminent professor to the universitys engineering society. The don was delivering an oration on the subject of unusual railway bridges1) The learned professor punctuated his talk with pithy comments and slides of the breathtaking constructions. (2) He knew his subject inside out. He singled out many innovative designs for praise and then turned on one unusual example and slated it. He criticised the titanic structures size, the design, the construction methods and the impact on the environment. (3) When the applause had died down, there was a question and answer session. An elderly gentleman raised his hand. (4) The professor, his feathers ruffled by his contentious interruption puffed out his chest and pointedly put the old fellow down for audaciously implying that he knew more about the subject than the professor did himself. Well, I should, replied the old fellow. You see, I designed and built that particular bridge myself. 1. Four sentences have been removed from the text.
