SC
Lagos topography poses as major challenge to infrastructure development especially roads. We are constantly having to do soil test. Many road projects are subject of massive soil replacement; this has enormous cost implications for projects Attitudinal challenges
- unhygienic behaviour (indiscriminate dumping of waste on roads

and Drainages; activities of roadside mechanics and car wash operators) - lack of public ownership of Infrastructure (vandalisation of road furniture and public utilities - axle loads on some inner roads usually heavier than can be designed for Quantum of fund portfolio required to prosecute our programmes

LEKKI IKOYI LINK BRIDGE

We are happy to report the completion of the bridge and considerable progress is being made to handover the bridge for the use of the people of the State. The benefits to the State cannot be over emphasized. A survey conducted by TNS- RM shows that a great percentage of the respondents are convinced of the benefits of the bridge in terms of reduction in travel time and the exponential effect on health and social life of the people.

KSP 2: LAGOS -IKORODU ROAD

The desire to expand the road is informed by the massive change in the physical growth of the axis. It is arguably one of the fast growing communities within the State. There has also been extensive clamour for the expansion of the road along with the establishment of another access route. It is a 13.5km road of 6 lanes with a dedicated BRT lane on either side. As you are well aware it is being funded through LAMATA involving the World Bank. One must of necessity appreciate the people of Ikorodu for their support and commitment in the on-going redevelopment.

KSP 3: IPAJA - AYOBO

The project was conceived as a direct response to the challenges faced by commuters on this axis. The road, aside from its limitations in providing quality infrastructure, had become a death trap. The decision was then taken to reconstruct the road to address the flooding problem and provide communities along the axis with a high quality road. As with all such projects it will have exponential effect on property value and the quality of life of residents. Length of road Width of road Percentage of work Done- 47% It has a completion date of July 2013.

KSP 4 : IDIMU - EJIGBO

The road is a strategic road of 3.5km length connecting Ejigbo Community in Oshodi-Isolo L.G.A with Isheri-Ikotun Road in Alimosho LGA. However, due to its inadequate carriageway width and non functional drainage system it had deteriorated thereby causing traffic congestion, untold hardship to road users and flooding of the surrounding communities. Consequently, the State Government decided to award the rehabilitation and expansion of the road to a dual carriageway in phases. Phase 1 is 1.085km length and was awarded to Messrs Palmyra Construction Nigeria Limited in May, 2012. It is expected that the project will be completed in Nov. 2013 it is currently at 15%

Another of our major project is the Ajao-Ejigbo Link Bridge and road. The development was to ensure that the noticed traffic jam that characterize the Isolo-Ejigbo axis is a thing of the past. The link road between MMA and Ejigbo through Ajao Estate will when completed create a bypass that will save commuters between 30and 40 minutes at the least. The project consists of network of roads and 2nos bridges totaling 2.1km. It is 70% completed. It is anticipated that it will be completed by July 2013.

KSP6 AGO PALACE WAY

As part of our strategic road development programme the administration had conceived the Ago Palace Way to create a by pass that addresses the perennial traffic snarl along the axis and that of Apapa Osodi Expressway especially at peak periods.. It will link Ijegun, Ikotun, Ejigbo to Amuwo Odofin through Isolo and Okota. It is also a complimentary development to the Okota Itire Link bridge to optimise the ongoing development of the LBE by the State Government. It is a phased development. Please also recall that the project had been stalled due to litigation, which has now been resolved. Work will soon recommence on site to finish the project in July 2013 as we have attained 70% completion on the current phase

RESEARCH WORKS
There is a Mechanical Dept that has responsibility for all matters relating to maintenance of technical things. It also handles research matters. It has come up with such designs as the Pulverizing and Shredding machines; the Road Sweeping Machine. A prototype of this machine has been completed and an improved version which is of 85% progress is on going. The Dept is poised to deliver an improvised HOT AIR ROTARY FISH DRYING PLANT

HOT AIR ROTARY FISH DRYING

All economies leverage on their comparative advantage. Lagos State being endowed with large water bodies has an abundant supply of fish; a commodity with great economic potential both locally and internationally. The industry is challenged with wastage of those harvested but are unsold. We have taken up the challenge of developing machinery that will promote hygienic preservation methods of smoking and drying Rather than use smouldering of wood, charcoal, sawdust in an oven directly below fish laid out on mess trays, we have designed the Hot Air Rotary Fish Drying Plant powered by palm kernel shell cashew nut chaff, etc. this saves over 150% cost when compare to use of gas or any petroleum product.

Office of Facility Management & Maintenance

"SMART MINISTRY we work smart 118

The 21st Century is a period that requires more effective management of the several infrastructure assets; not only do we have high level of depreciation of such assets we have also traced the decline to a low level of maintenance culture. The LASG is determined to ensure the effective management and maintenance of its assets. these assets must be properly maintained so that they continue to support the delivery of a wide range of government services which fulfil social and economic needs of the State. Office of Facility Management and Maintenance (OFMM) objective is to create a framework that provides a consistent approach to the management planning and delivery of maintenance across the State.
"SMART MINISTRY" ........ we work smart 119

Some of the benefits of improved infrastructure maintenance: Preserve taxpayers investments in public buildings. We are at a critical stage on our project delivery. We have been careful in selecting projects and also phasing them to ensure they are delivered on schedule. Please recall that it is our avowed commitment that projects will never be abandoned on our watch. The year 2013 awards are a testament to this. There are a number of projects being in the second phase. It is our plan to further deepen our capacity to effectively monitor projects. We will continue to ensure that all our people centred projects are delivered and people allowed to reap the benefits enshrined in the planned development.

In the last 24 months, we have marched forward in delivering first class infrastructure for the benefit of the people of this State. We understand that it is our place to ensure the delivery of the infrastructure base upon which both business and people can reach the zenith of their potential. We adopted better delivery strategy on all projects; we are getting better value for every expenditure that government makes. We salute our leader the Governor Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, for the opportunity he gave us to serve our dear State. His leadership and support has seen us this far. Let me commend my very able and committed colleague, Engr Ganiyu Johnson, for his support and contribution to all that we have done. Our lieutenants and all members of the Works family I salute your dedication. We are determined to be a change agent and leave the states infrastructure better than we met it.
