HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 16-18; 1 Peter 1 Monday, November 18 Psa. 36:9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. Dear Lord and Savior: I have a burden for so many people I know. I am burdened for __________ and __________ to get saved, and want to run out and talk to them right now. But no lips can convey the love of Christ effectively until your own Spirit speaks to their heart on the inside. Lord, reveal yourself to them! Take away the blindness and make their soul see you, high and lifted up on the cross for them. Matt. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Educational processes cannot reveal Christ. So Holy Spirit, come with power! Overshadow __________ with your wings. Lord Jesus, reveal yourself to __________ with the sight of faith. Do it Sunday as the pastor preaches. Do it this week as I witness about my own experience with you. When the world looks at you they see you only Isa. 53:2-3 as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Proud men and women have always rejected you. Only where your Spirit touches their eyes with salve, resuscitates their heart with divine life, and gives their soul a heavenly tasteonly there is your work on the cross understood. 1 Pet. 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: Lord Jesus, make believers out of them! Become the Rock of their salvation and not a stone of stumbling. Present yourself to them through preaching and through providence. Manifest your light and your love, and make their hearts open to your charms. Do it Jesus, for your own sake and glory. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 25-27; 1 Peter 4 Thursday, November 21 Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS PRAYER LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 19-21; 1 Peter 2 Tuesday, November 19 Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Lord Jesus My Savior: What will come to pass in my days? Will I seek the closet of prayer or seek a public display? I want to get the blessings of God; help me present my prayers unspoiled by the desire for human observation. I will get alone with you to move your arm. If I fast I will not appear so to men. If I plead personally with you I will tell no one of that. May it be only a secret between you and my own soul, because then I can claim the reward openly. Do not let me become a Pharisee who blows his trumpet in the streets. Lord, you acted to prevent interruption of your prayer. You located yourself where you could pour-out your soul completely, and so sought the mountain. Sometimes no walls can be appropriate for my prayer. No room can house my intercessions. I must walk with you while I pray and pray to you while I walk. Nature becomes my temple when I am talking to you. I do not have giant hills or long shadows as my companions, but I still have the sweet ministrations of your Spirit and your word. No pomp of human ceremony can equal that. Let the winds (or even the air vents) bear the burdens of my sighs, as well as my tears, on their willing wings today. Samson moved the giant pillars in the temple of the Philistines god. He was a dwarf compared to what I can be with you, because of what Jesus is for me! Jesus is still on the mountain interceding as I pray. So let me bow my life to his will as I ask your blessing. I seek you in the private place of my soul so I can move your hand. Let me do it throughout the night of the church age as I wait for the dawn of my full redemption. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 28-30; 1 Peter 5 Friday, November 22 Lev. 26:6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land. Great Lord and Father: Bless our country! Have pity on us all in our present afflictions. God bless the President, his Cabinet, all our lawmakers and the judiciary, with every mercy and blessing. Make them fulfill your will for righteousness sake in our land. Grant there may be a change in the state of the Middle East (and every trouble spot). Protect our service members. Give our church members jobs, who are looking for them right now. Let people see your hand, understand why it is laid on them, turn from wrongdoing, seek righteousness, and follow peace. Lord hear us, as in secret we often cry to you for our nation and its rulers. Lift up the light of your countenance on us. Even despite our national follies and sins, help us walk in your path of justice and peace to carry the gospel. Let us turn to you anew in revival! Let us prove the power of Jesus blood for our daily cleansing. Let us prove the presence of your Holy Spirit for daily teaching, guidance and sanctification. We need no other rock to build our church on than Christ, the solid Rock. We desire no other hope than what you give us in the gospel. We flee there for refuge today. Heb. 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, We need to come to Jesus as sinnersguilty, lost, by nature ruined. Give us again the faith to look to Christ and see him hanging on the cross for us. Aid us in leading others to the foot of that cross this Sunday, so they will see Jesus dying for them, and then open their eyes that they might also trust in him. Prepare us for greater service to Jesus, whom we love. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 22-24; 1 Peter 3 Wednesday, November 20 Mark 2:15 As Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. O Lord God and Gracious Redeemer: I confess and acknowledge, every breath of my nostrils is kept there by your continued grace. I owe my substance, my subsistence, my happiness, my promotion, my maturity, my family, and my very existence only to you. I especially feel this dependence when it comes to spiritual things and spiritual warfare. I am less than nothing in the spiritual world. I feel this increasingly, and yet even to feel it accurately is beyond my power. Only your grace can make me really know my need of your grace. I am unable to confess my own sinfulness until you show it to me, because though it stares me in the face, my pride still denies it. Oh, Lord. I steal your power and call it my own, until finally through some insurmountable frustration or failure you make me admit I have no strength in myself. Lord, I want to acknowledge you with my life today. I come humbly admitting my many sins. I cannot even calculate how many, but I know how deep and I see how black. I have sinned myself into hopeless misery unless your free and undeserved grace rescues me from it. I thank you for any feeling of repentance I have, and pray you will give me more! Lay me low before you in a consciousness of my undeserving state. Make me feel and mourn the atrocity of my guilt. I know a tender heart can only come from you. By nature my heart is like a rock; I am proud and self-righteous. Turn it to revival! Help me make an acceptable confession of my sins, with such deep regret I can only lean on the grace of your Son, Jesus. Here I stand, a publican and a sinner. Jesus, sit down with me and raise me up to follow you! Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Ezekiel 31-33; 2 Peter 1 Saturday, November 23 Psa. 16:1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. Jesus, My Living LORD: Speaking by the Holy Spirit, Peter tells me David was writing about you (Acts 2:25-36). And though spotlessly sinless yourself, in order to be an example for me, you looked to the LORD your God for preservation. As a man, you needed divine keeping like I do, and you often cried out for strength (as I should). If JesusHoly Godlooked out from himself for protection, how much more must I? Having been preserved yourself through prayer, you are now able to preserve me, as I trust in you by calling on the name of Jesus. Like a chick runs beneath the hen when in danger, let me flee quickly to you. You are my great, overshadowing protector. As Jesus prayed, so let me pray. And as he became more than conqueror, so I will be an overcomer through him. When buffeted by storms, let me bravely cry to Jesus Christ for help. Psa. 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. You presented praise, as well as prayer, to the Father. I am not truly your follower unless I resolve to bless the Lord. Let me follow your example of lowliness (Phil. 4:7), stop trusting in my own understanding, and seek to be guided by your Spirit today. The communion of my soul with you brings inner wisdom. Grow this wisdom in the garden of my mind. Fill my heart full of gladness till my tongue breaks with praise. Let faith give me a living joy as well as a dying rest. Let me be urged-on through todays grinding work by the glory that is to follow. My high ambition is to bring you happiness today. Even though I wade through a sea of blood, let me honor Jesus Christ. Amen.

MARVELOUS grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvarys mount outpoured, there where the blood of the Lamb was spilled. Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss; Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty cross. Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can avail to wash it away? Look! There is flowing a crimson tide, brighter than snow you may be today. Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, freely bestowed on all who believe! You that are longing to see His face, will you this moment His grace receive? Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that is greater than all our sin.

PRAYER DIARY

1)

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Welcome to all our visitors! Please take a white visitors card from the back of the pew in front of you. Fill it out and put it in the offering plate or hand it to us in the lobby. INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

! Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) ! Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking with us) ! Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the Word)

WEDNESDAY 7:00-8:30P.M.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
