A description is about a particular person or thing (Martin, 1985).

Description can be used in reports and descriptive reports classify and describe a phenomenon and then describe its featured (Martin and Rose, 2008: 142). Moreover, Emilia (2011: 82) has an opinion that descriptive texts are a text which is used to describe a particular person, place or thing or something in writers mind. A description usually has two stages; including identification and description. The descriptions can be several features of a person or a thing described. In descriptive text about person, the description stage can be describe several elements, including appearance, behavior, age etc. Moreover, according to Feez and Joyce (1998: 120), the information in the Description stage can be grouped into two sections which can be ordered; (1) From the most important to the least important, and (2) From the most general to the most specific and detailed. The generic structure of a description can be seen in table below.

According Martin and Rose (2008: 143) Descriptive texts have the following linguistic feature: a. Use specific participants, like Goanna, or other participants, like my friend, my cat, etc. b. Use present tense, as in : Jessica Alba is really a beautiful movie star, She meets all the requirements. c. Use relational processes to describe the characteristics of a thing or people described.

d. Use a lot of adjectives, as in : Her sexy, slim body supported by her long-legged feet e. Use lingking Verb (Is, are, has have, belong to) f. Use formal and objective language style. Besides, according Darewianka (1990: 53) the steps in constructing a descriptive text are; a. Identification : state the topic which will be described b. Description: Describe many aspects from the topic which written by the writer, example: if the topic is writing about animal, the writer can write the physical appearance, behavior, feeding etc. Darewianka (1990: 53) also states that the purpose of descriptive texts is to give information about thing or people.
