Kindergarten English 100 Activities for 1. the Classroom 23 and 24 November 2013

Kindergarten English 100 Activities for the Classroom is meant to cater for the needs of the English teachers with students from 3 to 8 years old. The course identifies suitable topics, discusses class management and dealing with disruptive behaviour, explores various learning types and illustrates ways to measure progress. It also gives ideas on how to adapt activities and resources, how to find and create materials, as well as on how to save time and energy. All the above mentioned issues will be illustrated through 100 activities ready to take into your class. A step by step presentation of various ways to introduce and practise vocabulary and grammatical structures combined with practical activities ready to take to class make Kindergarten Topics a good choice for beginner teachers as well as for those who want to add a spark of fun and novelty to their lessons. Games, songs, poems, stories and crafts are included in the 8 topics presented through the course, in order to offer a step-by-step presentation of ways to introduce vocabulary and grammatical structures at kindergarten level, to identify suitable kindergarten topics to be introduced in the curriculum and to offer 66 practical activities ready to take to class. Whether you are interested in building the best optional course ever, implementing CLIL into your lessons or simply adding that extra flavour to your daily lessons, this is the course you should take. Whether you are teaching upper primary or secondary students, you will find that the 56 types of activities presented and completed with memorization techniques, plus three sample lessons are just what you need. The course aims are to offer support to teachers who are teaching CLIL or want to design an optional course, to make a step-by-step presentation of how to build a lesson plan with cultural, geographical or historical content, to offer various activity patterns for each lesson stage and to provide activities to suit different teaching styles. 8 hours of music, fun and intensive learning of teaching strategies based on pop songs may well be speaking for themselves. We could only add that this musical journey, meant for upper primary and secondary teachers, will demonstrate how teachers can focus on context, content (vocabulary, grammar, culture etc.) and skills in the most entertaining way, making the unsuspecting student take part to the lesson like never before. The course will demonstrate how music in general and pop songs in particular can be used to introduce and practise vocabulary, grammar and culture, will present various activities that enhance creativity and stimulate motivation and will try to encourage the use of music in class as an endless resource of fun, education and authentic language.

Breaking the Routine 5. 15 and 16 March 2014

8 Monica Stoica RON 120

Being successful, different, admired and respected as a teacher is not a dream. It can be real life once you know what buttons to press, what your students expect and what you can do to meet their expectations as well as your teaching aims. This course leads you step by step on the path of building an authentic relationship with your students by offering them choices and surprises, by impressing and attracting them with a wide range of fresh and unusual but simple activities. Once you include such games into your routine, both you and your students will look forward to the next lesson. The course is suitable to teachers who teach 3rd to 8th grades and more as the ruling principles presented and demonstrated are based on personal development theories. This course is meant to give participants information about and practice in writing academic texts in view of their being able to cope with such tasks as writing essays, course assignments, exam papers, conference papers, BA projects, MA dissertations etc. We will approach writing as a process rather than as a product. In other words, rather than analysing features of finished texts and attempting to reproduce them, we will start from an examination of what good writers actually do as they write. We will experience hands on, such processes as jotting down ideas at random, organising them, writing first drafts, and revising. The emphasis throughout the course will be on the process involved in producing complete, contexualised pieces of writing. We will concentrate on WHY the writing is being done (a sense of purpose) and WHOM it is being written for (a sense of audience). All this is not to suggest that the nuts and bolts of grammar and discourse accuracy will be neglected. The NLP course will help participants to achieve personal development, achieve objectives, access resources, make the best out of themselves and develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively. The participants will learn to identify counterproductive feelings and thoughts and access those which are helpful in a given situation. Also, they will be able to use personal resources from their past in present situations, formulate outcomes which can become real, understand the hidden parts of utterances and bring them to the surface, discover and use personal ingredients that enhance their learning process, evaluate an experience and identify its weak point, use reframing to improve perspective on things, identify their favourite sense for accessing reality, create rapport, pace and lead in a communication situation and identify general patterns that govern their behaviour. The course combines a variety of modes of working, ranging from mini lectures to demonstrations of peer/group practice.

Course Description

TeachingEnglish Primary Essentials is a development course for teachers of English teaching children of seven to eleven years old. It is suitable for teachers at Stage 2 (Newly qualified) of the British Council's CPD Framework, who have little experience of teaching this age group. Participants are encouraged to take a constructivist approach to their learning. The course is delivered as an online course in which a group of teachers and a trained moderator work together. The modules include readings, videos of teachers in the classroom, audio, interactive exercises, collaborative exercises, discussion forums and other activities. Each module can be covered in about six hours and the course lasts approximately 12 weeks. Participants are assessed at the end of each module.

TeachingEnglish TKT Essentials provides teachers of English with an introduction to the basic theory associated with a communicative approach to English language teaching. The course is suitable for trainee teachers at Stage 1 (Starting) of the British Council's CPD Framework, who are learning the essential methodology of teaching English, and for practising teachers at Stage 2 (Newly qualified), who need to develop their knowledge further. TeachingEnglish TKT Essentials is delivered as an online course, in which a group of teachers and a trained moderator work together. The course consists of three modules, divided into a total of 34 units, each approximately 90 minutes long.

The TeachingEnglish Certificate in Secondary English Language Teaching (CiSELT) is an in-service course for secondary school teachers with a level of English B1 and above who are at the Developing and Proficient stages (3 and 4) of the CPD Framework. The course comprises a minimum of 52 hours of training materials plus assignments and is delivered as online, with a group of teachers and a trained moderator working together.
