THE UNBELIEVEABLE GOSPEL

Jonathan K. Dodson
Four point gospel outlines dont seem to work anymore. And gospel tracts? In a digital age, they seem quaint and antiquated. Our culture has shifted, and we need flexible forms for evangelism that retain gospel faithfulness. In addition to these shifts, there are fresh obstacles to putting your faith in Christ. Charges of intolerance, politicking, and bigotry lay at the doorstep of the church. How do we respond to these in a way that is sensitive and sufficient, discerning and deliberate? There is an urgent need for us to increase our gospel communication, but to do so with cultural discernment. In The Unbelievable Gospel pastor Jonathan Dodson diagnoses the evangelistic paralysis of the modern church, giving good reasons why people dont share their faith today, and offers a desperately needed solution. Showing readers how to utilize the rich gospel metaphors found in Scripture, he how to communicate a gospel worth believingone that speaks to the heart-felt needs of diverse individuals. Dodson shows you how to connect the gospel to the real issues people face each day by speaking to both the head and the heart. RAISED?
Jonathan K. Dodson and Brad Watson
Too often Christians look down on those who doubt. But people who don't question their faith can end up abandoning it. Life forces us to ask some difficult questions about the nature and purposes of God. Even Jesus himself queried God: "My God, my God why have you forsaken me?" When people cover up doubts and difficulties with blind faith, they actually miss an opportunity to trust God more. God is big enough to handle our doubts. Jesus came to show us a God who compassionately dives deep into our doubts, who even invites our ridicule, in order to reveal a solution to all injustice. Most profoundly, he falls on the grenade for the injustice of our willful self-worship. He dies to set us free from assigning ultimate value to our intellect, looks, and achievements (good or bad), in order to discover the enduring value of his truth, beauty, and goodness. The resurrection of Jesus is important because it signals the hope of a whole new world. But in the modern mind, the notion of someone rising from the dead is utterly implausible. In fact, five in one people in America don't even believe in a deity. So while many people believe in the historical Jesus, they find it incredibly difficult to believe in a resurrected Jesus. If it's true, does it make sense of our world? If it is plausible and appealing, how should we respond? What do sin, faith, and Christ really mean? Finally, what difference does the resurrection make? How does it change your life?
