RehabilitationStandards

Thehistoriccharacterofapropertyshallberetainedandpreserved.Theremovalofhistoricmaterialsoralteration offeaturesandspacesthatcharacterizeapropertyshallbeavoided. Eachpropertyshallberecognizedasaphysicalrecordofitstime,place,anduse.Changesthatcreateafalsesense ofhistoricaldevelopment, suchasaddingconjecturalfeaturesorarchitecturalelements fromotherbuildings,shall notbeundertaken. Mostpropertieschangeovertime;thosechangesthathaveacquiredhistoricsignificanceintheirownrightshall beretainedandpreserved. Distinctivefeatures,finishes, andconstructiontechniques orexamples ofcraftsmanship thatcharacterizea propertyshallbepreserved.
