RMG MESSTECHNIK GMBH

Overview

Within the RMG group RMG Messtechnik GmbH based in Butzbach near Frankfurt with locations in Ebersberg near Munich and Beindersheim in South-West Germany produces the devices for gas measurement and covers with its manufacturing program nearly all fields of gas measurement. Most of the devices can be used for natural gas as well as for industrial gases such as ethylene or nitrogen. The three main categories are: Gas volume metering For the measurement of gas volumes or gas flow rates different kinds of gas meters (rotary displacement meters, turbine meters, vortex meters and ultrasonic meters) are available, in flow rate ranges between 2.5 and 110,000 m3/h. Volume correction The choice of the computers for the determination of the gas quantity (standard volume) and the energy contents, the volume correctors, reaches from the compact battery device up to the universal computer with PC technology which can execute all current methods of calculation. Gas quality measurement For the precise volume correction and energy calculation gas quality values such as the superior calorific value are required. Two devices are available for this purpose: a correlative measuring instrument and a high-precision

gas chromatograph which provides, in addition, the composition of natural gas. The manufacturing program is completed by two more product lines: Data storage and data analysis The traditional series of data loggers for meter readings, measuring values and analysis data are complemented with computer programs for readout and evaluation of the registered data. Gas odorization systems Although the gas odorization systems for the admixture of odor substances to odorless gases like natural gas do not belong to the measuring instruments, their production in our factory is a long standing tradition and the quality of these devices is not lower than that of the measuring instruments. The devices are available individually or as a complete measuring system with ready-wired electrical cabinets. In addition, we offer services like startup, recalibration and maintenance of the devices as well as product trainings. The other companies of the RMG group extend the range of products by gas regulators, safety devices and a lot more.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality control, approvals, certificates

23

Measuring technology and quality belong together. Beside the normal quality control every measuring instrument passes our testing centre and is calibrated there before it leaves the factory. Especially for gas meters a test facility with a flow capacity up to 25,000 m3/h is available. Most of our devices are determined for custody transfer applications in gas metering stations. In Germany a typeapproval of the physical-technical federal institution (PTB) is necessary for every measuring instrument for such an application, i.e. every device type undergoes an official testing before the series production starts. Furthermore approvals of many foreign authorities are on hand. Additionally a number of regulations must be noticed in gas technology. The most important ones are the European pressure equipment directive 97/23/EG and the European explosion protection directive 94/9/EG. Also here an examination takes place by independent institutions like DVGW or technical inspection authorities.

The compliance of the requirements of the DIN/ISO 9001 is a matter of course for us, the certification exists since 1994. Some important certificates which you find on our website www.rmg.com and which we will like to send to you if desired: - Quality management system in compliance with EN ISO 9001 - Safety, health and environmental manage-ment system (SCC) - Quality assurance system for the production quality according to the EC pressure equipment directive - Acknowledgement of the quality assurance for the production of equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres - National acknowledgement of a testing laboratory for measuring instruments for gas - Operating licence for a testing laboratory for measuring instruments for gas
