Category: Personal Hygiene and cleaning products Name: Dove Deodorant Description: Reduces underarm wetness, 48-hour protection. Ingredients : Active- Aluminum Zirconium tetrachlorohydrex GLY. Inactive- Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, C1215 Alkyl Benzoate, PPG- 14 Butyl Ether, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Dimethicone, Polyethylene, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Steareth- 100, BHT.

Compound Information: Compound 1- Aluminum Zirconium tetrachlorohydrex (GLY) (active) Molecular Formula: Al2Cl7H7O7Zr7 Inorganic because it does not contain carbon. Summary: Aluminum Zirconium tetracholorhdrex (GLY) is the compound in deodorant that obstructs pores in the skin so sweat cannot leave the body. It also can absorb moisture. GLY can also cause a yellow stain on clothing.

Compound 2- Cyclopentasiloxane (inactive) Molecular Formula: C10H30O5Si5 Organic because it has carbon. Summary: Cyclopentasiloxane is an emollient, which is supposed to help keep the skin soft and not to dry or oily.

Compound 3- C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (inactive) Molecular Formula: C19H20O2 Organic because it has carbon. Summary: This compound is made from vetable fats and corn sugar. It is water dispersant that helps relaease oils from fabric. It serves as an emollient and it is supposed to serve as a thickening agent in cosmetics.

Compound 4- PPG- 14 Butyl Ether (inactive) Molecular Formula: C10H22O3 Organic because it is formed with carbon. Summary: The PPG-14 in the formula is C3 H8 O2 which stands for polypropylene glycol.

Compound 5- Stearyl Alcohol Molecular Formula: CH3(CH2)16CH2OH Organic because it contains carbon Summary: Stearyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol; it takes the form of white granules. This compound is used as a thickener in cosmetics. It is also used as a hair coating in shampoos and hair conditioners.

Ingredients: Glucose syrup, Sucrose, Gelatin, Water, Ascorbic Acid, Artificial flavors, bees wax, Carnauba wax, choline bitrate, citric acid, d-biotin, d-calcium pantothenate, FD&C blue #1, FD&C Red #40, FD&C Yellow # 6, Folic Acid, Inositol, modified starch, potassium iodide, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vegetable oil, vitamin A acetate, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3.

Compound 1: Sucrose Molecular Formula: C12H22O11 Organic because it contains carbon. Summary: Sucrose is table sugar. It adds the sweet flavor to the vitamin that makes you want to take the vitamins. Sucrose can harm your teeth if you eat too much of it and it can also lead to obesity. Sucrose is the blood sugar that people with diabetes mellitus must control.

Compound 2: Glucose syrup Molecular Formula: C6H12O6 Glucose is an organic substance. Summary: Glucose syrup is a concentrates solution of glucose maltose. Glucose is not as sweet as sucrose. Glucose is added to fruits, liquors, bakery products, and pharmaceuticals. Glucose is vital for the human body and is oxidized during the process called metabolism.

Compound 3: Ascorbic Acid Molecular Formula: C6H8O6 Ascorbic Acid is an organic compound because it contains carbon. Summary: Ascorbic Acid is known as vitamin C. This acid is related to glucose and is commonly found in citrus fruits and vegetables. Ascorbic acid is essential in the human diet and is not a manmade compound.

Compound 4: Choline Bitartrate Molecular Formula: C5H19NO7 Organic because the compound contain Carbon. Summary: Choline Bitartrate is usually grouped with the B-complex vitamins, which is an essential nutrient. This compound is meant to help with muscle and memory control.

Compound 5: Folic Acid Molecular Formula: C19H19N7O6 Contains Carbon so it is organic. Summary: Folic Acid is a b vitamin found in many common foods. Folic Acid is needed in your blood, without it, you can have anemia. It is used to treat people with liver disease or alcoholism. Folic acid can be taken to help prevent colon cancer or cervical cancer.

Ingredients: Active- fexofenadine HCL Inactive- Colloidal silicone dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hypomellose, iron oxide blends, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, povidone, pregelatinized starch, titanium dioxide.

Compound 1: Fexofenadine HCL Molecular Formula: C32H39NO4 Organic compound due to the presents of carbon. Summary: Fexofenadine is used to treat the symptoms of hay fever. This compound isnt supposed to pass through your blood-brain barrier. It is not supposed to cause drowsiness.

Compound 2: Iron Oxide Molecular formula: FeO Inorganic because it doesnt have carbon. Summary: Iron Oxide is used in cosmetics and in some tattoo inks. This compound can be easily be confused with rust. It is also used as a pigment.

Compound 3: Povidone Molecular Formula: C6H9(NO)n Organic because it contains carbon. Summary: Povidone is a polar solvent. It can be used as a blood plasma substitute. But it can be used in cosmetics, pharmacys, multiple medicines, and industrial production. It is what holds the pill together, it is the binder in the medicine. Compound 4: Titanium Dioxide Molecular Formula: TiO2 Not organic because it does not contain carbon. Summary: It is used as a pigment, used in sunscreen to food coloring. Titanium dioxide can occur naturally but it can also be manmade. It is used as a pigment because of the white color in paint, coatings, plastics, papers, foods, and medicines.

Compound 5: Magnesium Stearate Molecular Formula: Mg(C18H35O2)2 Organic because it contains carbon Summary: Magnesium Stearate is a solid at room temperature and not soluble in water. It is used as an anti-adherent in medicine. It also is used in manufacturing because it prevents ingredients from sticking to manufacturing equipment.
