First let it be known that minorities will not call out a racist unless it is believed to be true.

Second know there are many layers to racism. Bigotry is not as simple as someone shouting out a racist epithet to a person or in general as a comment. Racism is much more then just name calling. There are mannerisms, acts, gestures and attitudes etc that go along with racism! Racism and hatred are synonymous. nd one !eeds the other in its ugliness! " was going to ask you #r $ickey i! you have ever lived the black e%perience in &orth merica. 'pon re(reading your attempt to water down the !act that more and more people !eel Therrien is conducting his coaching with )* Subban as a racist and they are calling him on it. +ou answered my ,uestion based on the !act you look at racism on a limited narrow(minded view point with very little knowledge and-or e%perience on the subject o! what is racism !rom a black-minority perspective. &ote " say both black and minority because upon reading history there are similar struggles, i! not the same struggles in some dimensions when it comes to minorities in &orth merica between .anada and the 'nited States/ such as the Black and &ative e%perience are e%tremely similar. "n the 'S , mericans are going to lay it on the line and let everyone know they are racists. 0hereas .anadians like to walk the line o! being 1 polite racists2. 0hen it comes down to it there is no such thing as a polite racist. "t just a term to sugar coat racists that are .anadian bigots! That said there is nothing 3*, nice or good about racists. ll a person has to do is understand the history associated with Racism, the pain and the su!!ering that went with being put under racism !or centuries. #oving along Racism is not just the obvious #r. $ickey where one calls a person a racist name or makes bigoted comments that would lead others to suspect that one is racist. Racism has many layers and !actions to the connotation o! the o!!ensiveness o! the ugliness o! racism. Resulting in brutish, tyrannical and even murderous histories bestowed on minorities in &orth merica including .anada! .anada did have slaves at one time #r $ickey. nd were actually one o! the !irst to bring back black !rican slaves. 3! course this is just another hidden era !or .anada to deny. There were both Black and &ative Slaves in .anada. 3nly .anadian hierarchy once more sugar coated their Slave trade by using the terms 1 Servant as oppose to what it was Slavery! "t is !alse that the !irst slaves were brought into the #aritime provinces. "n !act historical records are evident slavery was established in 4uebec, through a royal mandate issued by 5ouis 6"7 in 89:;. $owever that is !or another conversation on another day! s an e%ample on .<= i! you watch #ichel Therrien demeanor with )* Subban it is very clear he is acting as a racist towards Subban in 1attitude2. )* Subban e%hibits respect!ul communication with Therrien and others on the coaching sta!! and

upper management at all times and yet Therrien and others on this coaching sta!! are talking down to him. They are talking to )* Subban as so many minorities can tell you with e%pertise that it is clear it is racism. >ven talking down to a minority comes in layers. 3ne is talking to a minority as i! they are a child and can?t think !or themselves. nother is talking to a minority as i! they are uneducated and can?t speak !or themselves. nother is talking down to a minority while e%erting superior or supremacists attitudes /all that is le!t is !or the minority to respond as !ollows +es Suh #assah! "n Therrien?s case he talks down to Subban with an attitude o! ine, uality. s well as he talks down to Subban to reduce him down, demorali@e him and humiliate him. "n some ways he baits Subban to respond in a negative way or should " say how Therrien and Bergeron e%pects a black young male to respond , to give them something to say or leverage on justi!ication !or their behavior towards )*. &ot to mention when other team members witness how the coach, some o! his sta!! and upper management speaks to Subban some o! them will eventually think it is 3* i! they also conduct themselves in that way toward shim. There is a di!!erence between coaching, being a tough coach like Bowman, correcting a behavior in a player and disrespecting them with a racist attitude the way " and others see how Therrien speaks to )* Subban. "t is indeed racism in my view, he is talking to )* not as a coach but with the attitude o! superior ine, uality, not authority as his coach but as the i! )* is beneath him and-or beneath the color o! Therrien?s skin. The most interesting part o! all o! this is, so many .aucasian people have !elt that #ichel Therrien is acting as a racist in attitude towards )*. .aucasian people are starting to understand what constitutes racism and the many layers o! racism as well as the deep pain it in!licts on minorities and how that pain has e!!ected minorities through the course o! history to the present! nd with that understanding comes unity among people globally. The bottom line we are living in a new world that does not ask but demands that all peoples are treated e,ually, !airly, as human beings with respect and dignity. #ore and more conversations are taking place about all human rights violations among all walks o! li!e across the globe and it is the turning o! the tide so to speak with the result that change has come to this world and again people globally are uni!ied in that stance! Racism will not be given a pass in any nook or cranny o! the world including sports! $istory will always serve to teach us how to proceed in long standing human rights violations and there are many! $ave a nice day!
