Parallel Lines

Using a set square to draw parallel lines

Example: Step 1 Draw two parallel line segments, KL and MN, that are 2 centimeters away from are another.

2 3

Mark two points, K and L. Then, use a ruler to draw a straight line connecting both points. This is line segment, KL. Place one of the two perpendicular sides of a set square on KL. Mark a point, M, 2 cm away from KL.

Step 2

Step 3

Place a ruler with one side along KL and slide the set square on it. Mark another point, N, some distance away from point M and also 2 cm away from KL.

Step 4

Use the ruler to draw a straight line connecting point M and point N.

Now you have two parallel line segments, KL and MN, that are 2 centimeters apart.
