Position Description: Habitat for Humanity of Ohio Green Building Specialist

We are looking for an engaging, articulate professional to provide certification, consulting and
technical assistance services on a wide variety of sustainable and green building projects for 69
Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Ohio. The position will be integral in driving improvements and innovation
to Habitat construction programs throughout Ohio.

The candidate must:

 Be a certified HERS rater and have expertise in energy-efficient construction products


and techniques. If not certified, agree to certification training.
 Be qualified to provide green building consulting, technical assistance services and
analysis to support sustainable design projects (some overnight travel may be required).

The successful candidate will also have experience in the following areas:

 Assisting with design and construction teams regarding green building concepts and
technologies, green building certification documentation, and design assistance.
 Working knowledge in technical areas of energy efficiency, renewables, energy
modeling, water use planning, site and landscape strategies, green building materials,
indoor environmental quality, and green building and sustainable design topics.
 Previous Habitat (or other affordable housing) experience is preferred, but not required.

Duties will include:

 Provide direct technical assistance in the areas of energy-efficient building science,


sustainable building and general construction.
 Coordinate training/learning opportunities in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International's
Learning and Organizational Development Department.
 Provide affordable, sustainable building recommendations to affiliates.
 Supply reporting as required by Habitat for Humanity International throughout the duration of the grant
program.
 Keep an accurate accounting of funding and return to Habitat for Humanity International quarterly
financial reports accordingly.
 Attend any mandatory training/learning opportunities.
 Perform rating and certification for affiliates as a certified HERS rater as well as National Association of
Home Builder’s Green Building Standards for those affiliates wanting green certifications.

Education Requirements:

 A bachelor's degree in a related field and/or training experience

Compensation Package:
Salary Range: $45K – $55K per annum based on qualifications.
Other compensation: Paid travel; $150/month towards Health Care package; up to 3% IRA
match

Projected starting Date: September 14, 2009
