Websites are particularly helpful for up-to-date information and the question-and-answer forums they provide. They generate discussions and dispel some of the mystique and hopefully bring the enjoyment of single malts to more people. The following websites provide consistently good information with a broad range of topics and provide an excellent grounding if you are new to malt whiskies and a good place to start any exploration. www.reddit.com/r/scotch Provides an intelligent forum for whisky questions, particularly for beginners seeking advice. www.whiskyforeveryone.com Very approachable information about distilleries, basic information, tasting notes, and some good blog links. This is a good place to start for newcomers.

www.whiskyfun.com Excellent tasting notes of substance. Additional thoughtful music reviews are the icing on the cake. www.whiskyintelligence.com A good, comprehensive guide with news about the whisky industry, new releases, festivals, links to other blogs, tasting notes, and reviews. www.whisky-pages.com Very approachable, useful, and substantive. Intelligent forums, good tasting notes, useful glossary and current articles.

Comprehensive; provides a history; book reviews; and tasting notes. A good place to start if you dont know Japanese whiskies.

This offers a particularly helpful cask calculator to determine the full cost of buying your own cask, including duty, VAT, and bottling charges. The figures are quoted in GBP, and anyone shipping to the United States would not pay British duty or VAT, but they would be subject to US duty and increased shipping fees. It helps to give buyers a ballpark figure for the costs associated with buying a cask. www.whiskywall.com Tasting notes on world whiskies; good links to other sites. www.thewhiskywire.com Offers score-free reviews.
