Good Question Venkatareddy... "If he were (or) If I were " is generally used to describe imaginative situations which are considered highly-improbable or are not true, where as "If I was" is used for situations which are feasible yet uncertain (but here in our situation he is not an actual king but behaving like a king.. That means, just imagining himself as a king.. so you should use were. For example: "If I was wrong, I am sorry." -> A case about which the speaker is uncertain. "If I were superman, I would fly above the clouds." -> A case which is impossible. Explnation in Telugu : the meaning of He behaves as if he was a king is "Atanu okappudu rajula pravartistunnadu" it lack proper sense. the meaning of He behaves as if he were a king is "Atanu rajula pravarthistunnadu (kanee raju kadu)"

Well, try to think in this way... You have 10 apples.. then you can say them in plural.. but what if you put them all in a box? it IS a box of apples... getting what i'm trying to say? here also same... lectures are plural.. but you are grouping them into series... Series of lectures means the GROUP of LECTURES.. thats the reason why we have to use singular.. hope you got the point... Reply
