This assignment is management subject for the 2nd semester in BTEC HND in Quantity Surveying &construction Economics. This subject is most important for Quantity surveys. Because they are must know about the construction management procedure in the construction industry. Explain the principles and process of management. You may cite relevant examples. Organization Two or more people who together in a structured way to achieve a specific goal or set of goals. Eg: Our regional Teams operate throughout the uk VINCI Organization is two or more people work together as CEO (John stanion), Managing Director (Andrew Ridley Barker), Finance Director( Alec Comba), HRD (Colin Jellicoe) & els. Goal The purpose that an organization tries to achieve. They have often more than one goal. Eg: Our people have a passion for what they do both in support of our business and in pursuit of their own personal career goals. Management The management is the process of Planning, Organizing, Leading and controlling the effort of organization members and of using all other organizational resources to achieve stated organizational goals. Managerial & Organization Performance Managerial Performance The measure of how efficient & effective manger is. How well he or she determines & achieve appropriate objectives. Organization Performance Organizational performance management is the process of making sure that your company resources are being properly used in pursuit of company goals. The concept of performance management is commonly applied to employee development. The managerial and executive staff also need to develop a monitoring system that charts the progress of the company and determine when changes in policy or procedure need to be made. Efficiency Vs Effectiveness Efficiency : The ability to minimize the use of resource in achieving organizational objectives. Effectiveness: The ability to determine appropriate objectives.

Management process Planning Planning implies that managers think though their goals and actions in advance and that their actions are based on some method. Plans give the organization its objectives and set up the best procedures for leading them. Eg: VINCI construction planning 1. Project completion 2. Organizing The managerial function of creating a structure of relationships among employees that will enable them to carry out managements plans & meet overall objectives. Function organizational structures A form of departmentalization in which individuals engaged in one functional activity, such as marketing, finance, or HRM are grouped in to one unit Product organizational structures Division of Department in to different geographical location to control the sales & marketing. Matrix organizational structure An Organizational structure in which each employee reports to both a functional managers & to a product or group managers.

Appointment Announcement Andrew Ridley-Barker has been appointed Managing Director of VINCI Construction UK Limited with effect from 1st January 2011. Andrew joined Taylor Woodrow in 1988 and is currently Director of the VINCI Construction UK Air division. Explain the ways of managing stress and time at the company. Stress The individuals emotional, physical & cognitive response to excessive demands. Stress often creates nonspecific response. Comment on the Organizational culture at vinci and decision making process of the company, Organizational Culture The organizations personality, the way of thinking, & doing the things in it, which is shared by most of its member & which must be learned by new members if they are to survive & progress. Its learned Eg: Hannah Lynnah had finished the school level. She have same basic knowledge. She stared job as VINCI construction company receptionist. she was met more different peoples. Discuss the importance of team work for successful completion of a construction projects at Vinci. Team Vinci group organizationally empowered to participate in decision making, exercise influence over how their objectives are met & often, establish many of those objectives. Team Decision Making There is considerable controversy over when team decision making. Some individual think that its waste of time & should only be used when the politics of the situation demand it. Others believe that team decision marking is often superior to individual decision marking & should be used whenever appropriate.

This is the management to laborers good understanding way. It always means enhanced collective understanding of the course of action to be taken after the decision is taken.

Disadvantages of Team

Individual opinions can be biased or affected with preconceived notions that can hinder the process. One of the major disadvantages is that it is more time consuming than the process of individual decision making. It takes longer to be finalized since there are many opinions to be considered and valued. In case of authoritarian or minority group decision making, the people whose opinions are not considered tend to be left out from the decision making process and hence the team spirit ceases to grow. The responsibility and accountability of the decisions are not equally shared in some cases which leads to a split in the group and hence hampers the overall efficiency of the group.

Types of teams 1. Formal Teams A Organizational group whose purpose & tasks directly to attainment of stated organizational objectives. 2. Problem solving teams A formal group of hourly & salaried employees, often volunteers, who meet to discuss ways to improve quality, productivity & work environment. 3. Special purpose team A formal group of employees from various departments or even two organizational levels that is empowered with responsibility to handle any of a number of possible special situation.
