strength and endurance, definition, quality of life and metabolism. Results from regular training are
typically weight management, decreased stress levels and performance-plateau breakthroughs.
Specific programs include balance, core, stabilization, agility, flexibility, cardio, resistance training and
strength training. Coupled with our leading edge equipment, our certified trainers will have you seeing
and feeling results in no time. Invest in some “sweat equity” and let us design a program specific to

Rick Alexander
Director of Hockey
Rick Alexander has over 35 years of hockey experience as both a player and a
coach. He played for a number of Calgary Junior teams before playing in Germany,
wherein he was selected to coach a Division 2 team which he led to play-offs
three consecutive years. He then became the youngest Division 1 coach and led
his team to play-offs, which was the first in club history. Rick continued his career
as Head Coach and General Manager of several teams throughout Germany and
Switzerland, and brought each team to play-offs or further. Rick moved back
to Canada and tried to retire in 1996 but was recruited by another Swiss team to help bring them to
play-offs. He led them to play-offs and continued to finals. This set a new trend for Rick, and four more
teams brought him in to coach their teams to play-offs. After returning again to Calgary, Rick managed
and coached several Elite Hockey Development Programs for all age levels and currently brings his wealth
of coaching experience to National Sports Development. His coaching style and extensive knowledge is a
welcomed asset to the organization.

instructing at hockey schools, skill development clinics and elite selection camps,
the most recent being the 2006 Alberta Cup Champions. Nels has established a
reputation for being able to communicate with all levels of athletes while continually developing their skills
for the next level of competition. Over his twelve years of coaching, he has seen over 80 of his players advance
to either Collegiate or Professional hockey. Nels has an Advanced Coaching certification in Canada and the

Professional Speed and Conditioning Coaches will assess the bio-mechanical abilities of each
athlete and provide feedback to help them improve sprinting technique. At the end of the 8-
week clinic, athletes will have increased confidence knowing that with their improved running
technique, they can sprint faster and move more efficiently. The sessions will be low in volume
and therefore should not affect the playing ability of athletes that have team practices or CMSA
league games on the same day.
