INTRODUCTION
Have you ever stopped and questioned the things you do, or the
traditions you keep, or even what you believe? It has been said that most
of the things that we believe and the traditions we keep have not been
researched; yet we continue to profess and do many things without
knowing its true origin. Let us ask the questions. Why do we do what we
do? Where did it come from? Who told us that? Where did they get it? It
is quite fascinating when we observe how a story is told and then passed
from one person to the next. By the time it gets to the ninth or tenth
person, the original story is often distorted and unrecognizable. This is
because man is very prone to placing his own thoughts, ideas and
personal interpretations on the things he hears, sees, and reads and
especially the things that are not understood. Because of this, we should
all be very cautious as to what we believe is truth.
What if you were given proof that everything that you have been taught
about religion and the world, as you know it, is a lie? How would you
respond? Could you really handle that truth? Would you continue on the
path of tradition that you have kept for many years that is most
comfortable to you, or would you passionately pursue the truth as if your
life depended on it. The truth is, your life does depend on it. It is very
difficult for anyone to accept that what he or she strongly believes could
be wrong. This would then mean that those who taught you either
deceived you or they didn’t know the truth themselves. No one wants to
be told that what he or she strongly believes is wrong, even if it is the
truth. With this being said, let us define Deception and Ignorance.
If you believe a lie is the truth, then you don’t know what the truth is,
thus making you ignorant of the truth.
Are we to believe everything that people tell us? Of course not! In order
to find the truth of any particular subject matter, one must go to the root
of that subject matter. We must gather as much evidence as possible in
order to come to a conclusion as to what we should believe. Without
taking the time to obtain knowledge of the Truth we will undoubtedly
leave ourselves vulnerable to all kinds of deception.
5
It is fair to say that at some point in our lives we have all asked ourselves
some basic questions, such as: Is there a creator of the universe? Is the
Bible truth and should I believe it. If there is a loving creator, then why
do bad things happen to good people? With these questions being asked
constantly, mankind will always come up with some kind of answer to
these questions, whether they are true or false. It is the nature of
mankind to reason within himself and give some type of compelling
argument, interpretation or theory on various subjects and try to pass it
off as the truth. As we have previously stated, it is very obvious that even
the most respected people throughout history have been consistently
wrong about many theories, predictions and prophecies.
Did you do your own research to see if the things that you are being
taught to believe are true? Or did you just receive it because it sounds
logical. Or maybe it was just tradition and for generations this is what
your family has believed. Have you ever really closely examined your
faith or belief system? If you were to examine it, what would you find?
What if you found inconsistencies, errors and lies? Would it still be the
right thing to believe or are you like so many others who are afraid to
question what most people believe is right? Are you afraid to think
independently from the masses at the risk of being an outcast, even if
that very independent thinking brought you to the truth? It is the nature
of man to travel the path of least resistance, even if that path is a lie. We
travel it because it is easier to travel. The truth is very difficult to accept
and most people cannot handle it. Can you handle the truth? Again I ask
you, “Can you handle the truth?”
This book will examine some truths about the most controversial
and confusing subjects known to man. The bible, religion and the
Creator of the universe. What makes religion so confusing and
controversial is because man is either not willing to accept the truth or
does not know what the truth is. Man does not like being told what to do,
or that he is wrong. Every man is right in his own eyes, but his ways are
truly foolish. This is evident by the many problems that mankind has
brought upon himself and the earth, along with mass confusion. This
book will examine some of the worlds best kept secrets and truths,
along with much indisputable evidence in an effort to get the reader to
closely examine what he or she believes and why. After examining several
great secrets and unknown truths, it will be much easier to understand
why the Bible tells us in Revelation 12:9 “And the great dragon was
thrown out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who
deceives the whole world”. Notice that it does not say some of the
world, or most of the world, but the “whole world”. What deception(s)
could be so great that it would mislead or deceive the whole world? This
is a powerful statement. Therefore, we must not take it lightly and we
must give it serious attention. Now with this being said, we should also
understand why the one known as the apostle Paul wrote, “PROVE all
things; hold fast that which is good” (1Thessalonians 5:21). Isn’t it
about time we test and prove all things? Isn’t it time we know why we do
what we do, or believe what we believe?
ideas and plans. The truth is usually written somewhere if we are willing
to take the time to look for it. Someone is going to tell it, and the story
will be passed along to others.
In searching for the truth there is no doubt that we will come across
some very compelling arguments, philosophies, theories and downright
lies. So we must be diligent in our search and be careful not to believe
everything that sounds good. The foundation of all beliefs should be built
upon solid evidence. So I ask you these questions. How much evidence
do you have to support what you believe? How much do you really know
about the history of the world and the history of your faith system? Do
you fall into that ever-increasing category of people who have failed to
research the things that are professed to be true? Do you know the origin
of the customs and traditions that you keep? Do your customs and
traditions contradict what you profess to believe? Are you diligent in your
pursuit of truth? These questions should be at the forefront of the minds
of all those who profess to seek truth. We should be reminded that the
truth is not always a feel good story, as some will have us to believe.
Remember, the truth hurts and it often contradicts us.
Throughout this book, we will closely examine the Bible and we will
provide some startling information about what is being taught versus
what is actually written. We will also reveal the origin of many traditions
and secrets that are kept by man and we will look at what the Bible has
to say about them. Many things that are revealed in this book may or
may not come as a surprise to you. We have heard rumors and
arguments over the years about many of the following subjects, but
mankind has chosen to avoid the truth for various reasons. Some of
these reasons are due to deception, ignorance or just plain rebellion.
Never the less, we will deal with the truth as it is. With truth being
suppressed and deception running wild, there is no wonder why the
world is in its present condition with man moving himself towards total
destruction. It must be said that without mankind embracing truth, he
can never obtain peace nor can he understand the simplicity of life.
CHAPTER 1
The four Hebrew letters, YHWH, in the name of God. Yahweh. The God of the
Israelites, his name being revealed to Moses as four Hebrew consonants called the
Tetragrammaton. After the Exile (6th century BC) and especially from the 3rd
century BC on, the Jews ceased to use the name Yahweh.
The Tetragrammaton (Greek: “word with four letters”) is the usual reference to the
Hebrew name for God, which is spelled (in the Hebrew alphabet) ( יyod) ( הheh) ו
(waw) ( הheh) or ( הוהיYHWH). It is the distinctive personal name of the God of
Israel.
It goes on to say:
Of all the names of God, the one, which occurs the most frequent, is the
Tetragrammaton, appearing 6,823 times, according to the Jewish Encyclopedia. The
Biblia Hebraica and Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia texts of the Hebrew Scriptures
each contain the Tetragrammaton 6,828 times.
Each of the major monotheistic world religions worships a Supreme Being, who is
the sole god of the universe, the maker of all things, omniscient and all-powerful.
God is also good. In ancient Israel God was named Yahweh. The God of the Hebrew
Bible also became the God of Christianity, but generic words, such as Theos in
Greek or Deus in Latin, were often used to refer to him.
Yes people! HIS NAME IS YAHWEH! Spelled YHWH ()הוהי. The question
now is,” Why do we not hear His name more often”? Why don’t the many
professing believers speak or use the name that we are told to praise and
9
honor? Why has His name been historically hidden under a Greek word
called the Tetragrammaton? It sure seems like someone is trying to
conceal the name that is above all names. Hmmmm, I wonder who that
could be?
The truth is, somewhere around the 6th century B.C.E (Before Common
Era) the Hebrew religious leaders felt the name of YHWH ( )הוהיwas
ineffable, meaning the name was not to be spoken or read aloud. In the
reading aloud of the scriptures or in prayer, the name YHWH ( )הוהיwas
replaced with Adonai and Elohim or other written or spoken forms which
eventually brought about the creation of the name Jehovah. The history
behind the false name Jehovah has never really been a secret and has
been well- published for many years. The Jewish Encyclopedia published
in 1901 states the following in regards to the name Jehovah:
It also states:
The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia (1941) says the following about the
name Jehovah:
During the middle ages, Christian students of Hebrew mistakenly read the four
consonants of the Tetragrammaton with the vowels indicating the pronunciation ‘
Adonai; they thereby arrived at the form YeHoVaH, which has produced the name
Jehovah for God. This name Jehovah, which still survives in Christian Bible
translations and Christian prayer books, is actually a mistransliteration, and the
word itself meaningless.
In the early Middle Ages, when the consonantal text of the bible was supplied with
vowel points for ‘Adonai with one variation-a sheva with the first yod of YHWH
instead of the hataf-patah under the aleph of ‘Adonai-were used for YHWH, thus
producing the form YeHoWaH. When Christian scholars of Europe first began to
study Hebrew, they did not understand what this really meant, and they introduced
the hybrid name “Jehovah”
10
Jehovah, name of the God of the Hebrew people as erroneously transliterated from
the Masoretic Hebrew text. The word consists of the consonants JHVH or JHWH,
with the vowels of a separate word, Adonai. What its original vowels were is a
matter of speculation, for because of an interpretation of such texts as Exodus 20:7
and Leviticus 24:11, the name came to be regarded as too sacred for expression; the
scribes, in reading aloud, substituted “Lord” and therefore wrote the vowel
markings for “Lord” into the consonantal framework JHVH as a reminder to
future readers aloud. The translators of the Hebrew, not realizing what the scribes
had done, read the word as it was written down, taking the scribal vowel markings
as intrinsic to the name of their God rather than as a mere reminder not to speak it.
From this came the rendition Jehovah.
Yet people continue to speak words without ever knowing their origin or
meaning. This is called etymology. The Encyclopedia Britannica defines
Etymology as:
The history of a linguistic form (as a word) shown by tracing its development since
its earliest recorded occurrence in the language where it is found, by tracing its
transmission from one language to another, by analyzing it into its component parts,
by identifying its cognates in other languages, or by tracing it and its cognates to a
common ancestral form in an ancestral language
The word God is believed to have been passed to the English language
from the Indo-Germanic language and it is also believed to be the name
of a pagan diety. Tracing its etymology(origin/history) is difficult, yet
various sources shows its roots in the names of pagan dieties. The
Encyclopedia Wikepedia says, in an article on the etymology of the word
God:
The word God continues Old English god (guþ, gudis in Gothic, gud in modern
Scandinavian and Gott in modern German), from Proto-Germanic *Guđan. The
original meaning and etymology of the Germanic word god has been hotly disputed,
though most agree to a reconstructed Proto-Indo-European form *khutóm, which is
the neuter passive perfect participle of the root *khu-, which likely meant
"libation", "sacrifice". The origin of the word God also comes from the Persian
Language in the form of khoda or khuda, which was then used by other Indo-
European tribes in the form of gudda :
The connection between these meanings is likely via the meaning "pour a libation."
Another possible meaning of *khutóm is "invocation," related to Sanskrit hūta.
The same root appears in the names of three related Germanic tribes, the Geats, the
Goths and the Gutar. These names may be derived from an eponymous chieftain
Gaut who was subsequently deified. He also sometimes appears in early Medieval
sagas as a name of Odin or one of his descendants, a former king of the Geats
(Gaut(i)), an ancestor of the Gutar (Guti), of the Goths (Gothus) and of the royal line
of Wessex (Geats) and as a previous hero of the Goths (Gapt). The Lombardic form
of Odin, Godan, may derive from cognate Proto-Germanic *Guđánaz.
12
The word God was used to represent Greek Theos, Latin Deus in Bible translations,
first in the Gothic translation of the New Testament by Ulfilas. For the etymology of
deus, see *dyeus. Greek theos is probably unrelated, and of uncertain origin. De
Saussure tentatively connected Baltic and Germanic words for "spook," ultimately
cognate with Latin fumus "smoke."
Anyone who is not familiar with the Hebrew language and writings
should note that it is believed to be the original language of man and is
written and read from right to left. It would be hard to imagine that one
who is wise enough to create the universe is not wise enough not to give
Himself even a generic title that if written or read from right to left in any
language is DOG. Think About That.
What then are we saying when we use the word Lord? The word Lord is
derived from the name Baal. The Wikipedia Encyclopedia says under
Baal:
Baal is a Semitic title and honorific meaning lord that is used for various gods,
spirits and demons particularly of the Levant. In Hindi the word means hair. Baal
can refer to any god or even to human officials; in some mythological texts it is used
for Hadad, a god of the sun, rain, thunder, fertility and agriculture and the lord of
heaven.
Baal -"Common Canaanite Word for Master, Lord, was one of the chief male
deities of the Canaanite Pantheon."
Baal (Hebrew ba'al, from the Phoenician ba'al, “owner,” “lord”), among ancient
Semitic peoples, name of innumerable local gods controlling fertility of the soil and
of domestic animals. Because the various Baals were not everywhere conceived as
identical, they may not be regarded as local variations of the same deity. In the
plural, Baalim means idols or Baals collectively.
The name Baal formed a part of the names of various gods, as Baal-berith (the
lord of the covenant) of the Shechemites, and Baalzebub (the lord of flies) of the
Philistines. The Hebrews learned the worship of Baal from the agricultural
Canaanites.
How can anyone think that they can honor and show respect to the
Creator by calling Him by whatever names they want? Yet, out of
ignorance, deception or arrogance, many men have done so. Could a
man go into his job and call the President or C.E.O of the company Joe
Bastard if his name is John Doe. Would a man go into his church or
place of worship and call the Pastor or leader by any perverted name he
13
chose to? Probably not. Then why would any professing believer give less
respect to the Heavenly Father? Whenever a believer speaks the words
Lord and God as if they are speaking of or to the Creator, knowing or
unknowing they have shown great disrespect. Though the head of any
organization may have many titles, they have only one name, which
identifies their true being.
All of the other titles by which He is called are not names but they are
descriptive and generic sub-titles, such as the title El (Mighty One) and
it’s many variants: El Shaddai (The Almighty), Elion (The Most High) and
others like Eloah, Eloahi, Eloahim and Adonai (My Sovereign). These are
all descriptive, generic titles. When a believer says, “Thank you Lord” or
“Praise God”. What are they really saying? What god is being given
thanks? Who is being praised? What is His name?
Let us examine the title god from another perspective. Every god has a
personal name; such as Zeus, Apollo, Baal, Jupiter, Buddha, Osiris and
Allah. These are all the names of the gods of those who follow them and
their doctrine, whatever that doctrine might be. If all of these “Gods”
have personal names by which their followers identify them. What then is
the personal name of the God of the bible? Surely He has a name. It is
also evident that it could not be god. So again I ask you, “What is His
name”?
There are many people who feel justified by using the title Lord, believing
that Adonai is the proper translation for the word. In the book entitled
“The Sacred Name”, author R. Clover gives enlightening information on
the proper translations of Adonai (Sovereign) and Lord (Baal).
Adon and Adonai are not properly translated as “lord” as is so often the case. (Baal)
on the other hand, literally means, “lord” “master”, hence a husband, or (fig)
owner. Baal should be distinguished from adon in that it comes from (aden),
meaning, “ a basis (of a building, a column, etc.): foundation, socket,” from which is
formed the root meaning “to rule,” “sovereign, i.e. controller”. That is, adon is the
basis of the government and therefore the ruler upon which the government rests. A
Baal on the other hand is the owner or master of someone or something else.
Therefore, Adon (plural Adonai) is best translated into English as “sovereign” while
Baal means almost the same thing as our English term “lord” (master, an owner or
possessor of land, houses. etc.)
What does the Bible have to say about calling YHWH ( )הוהיby this name?
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy
lies? Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their
dreams, which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers
have forgotten my name for Baal (Jeremiah 23: 26-27)
How can you say: We are wise, and the Law of YHWH is with us?
Look, the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood.
(Jeremiah 8:8)
"Woe to you learned in the Torah, because you took away the key of
knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were
entering in you hindered." (Luke 11:52)
At sometime during the second century B.C.E, the Hebrew leaders began
to think that the name YHWH ( )הוהיwas not to be spoken by any common
man and only the High Priest were allowed to speak it at certain times. It
was considered profane for anyone to be found speaking the sacred
name. It is believed by scholars, that the ban on the use of the sacred
name YHWH ()הוהי, came as a result of extreme misguided respect for the
name. It is also believed that the reason behind this action was based on
Exodus 20:7 which says in part “You shall not take the name of YHWH
( )הוהיyour Elohim in vain”, and in Leviticus it says in part, “You shall not
profane My Holy name”. These commandments together brought about
great fear of the misuse of the sacred name. It was then decided by those
same leaders that the name was to be hidden and kept secret. This
doctrine was later adopted by the many Hebrew converts and then later
carried into to all areas of the Judeo-Christian belief systems.
His name. The Hebrews called upon His Name in Genesis 12:8 and 13:4
and 21:33. Abraham called the place in Moriah "Yahweh Yireh", which
means Yahweh Will Provide (Genesis 22:14). Some will say that we are
not Hebrew and don’t speak the Hebrew language, we speak (English,
Spanish, French, etc. etc.). The truth is, it doesn’t matter what language
you speak, names should not be translated! Anyone and everyone can
pronounce the name Yahweh ()הוהי. Besides, any teacher of language will
tell you that names should not be translated! Your name is your name
wherever you go. Some also argue that the true pronunciation has been
lost over the years. Others might say that they are trying to preserve the
commandment that tells us not to use His name in vain. This too is
ridiculous. People will come up with many excuses in order to justify
their actions and ignorance. The fact still remains, that there is no
scriptural evidence for any of these beliefs and what we do find in the
scriptures contradicts this reasoning.
“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You” (Psalm
9:10)
“I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known my
name” (Psalm 91:14)
“A book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear
YHWH ()הוהי, and meditate on His name”. (Malachi 3:16)
“My mouth shall speak the praise of YHWH ()הוהי, and all flesh shall
bless His holy name forever and ever”. (Psalm 145:21)
The scriptures began to come alive when the true names are in place.
Now we know the name of the one that the Bible tells us that we should
give praise, honor and glory to.
From the creation of the world and even now, everything that exists has
a name. This is the only way we can distinguish one thing or person from
another. The Creator has given Himself a name by which we can identify
16
him. The name YHWH ( )הוהיmeans “to be” and “he exists”, often
translated to “the eternal”. All names have significant value and
meaning. This was very prevalent in the Hebrew language and culture
where names were associated with ones duty, purpose, fame, authority
and character. As with the name of YHWH ()הוהי, the names of many of
his servants and prophets have meaning and purpose. Hebrew names
were often compound names and the meanings of the names often
formed phrases or even full sentences and thus carried great significance
as many scholars will attest to. G.T. Manley of Christ’s College in
Cambridge writes:
A study of the word “name” (q.v.) in the Old Testament reveals how much it means
in Hebrew. The name is no mere label but is significant of the real personality of
him whom it belongs.
It also says:
The name conveys the authority of the person even when absent. To speak or act in
another’s name is to participate in that person’s authority (1 Sam. 17:45; 25:9 Acts
4:7). The principle is that of prophecy and revelation (Exod. 3:13-14; Deut 18:19;
John 5:43). Gods name reveals his character and salvation in which people may take
refuge (Ps. 20:1 (MT); cf. Isa. 25:1; 56:6); to treat God’s name as empty is to despise
his person (Exod. 20:7).
The Interpreter’s Dictionary of The Bible states:(please note the underlined words)
The name of God is the key to understanding the biblical doctrine of God. In
biblical terms the religious question is not: Does God exist? But: Who is our God?
Just as an introduction to a person involves a disclosure of his personal name, so
God’s self-revelation in history is accompanied by the giving of his personal name,
by which his people may worship and address him as “Thou.” Thus God’s name
signifies the personal relation between God and people, which is the supreme
characteristic of biblical faith.
When you see “Lord thy God”, in your Bible, it is properly written in the
original text as YHWH your Eloahim (deity). The variations of El (El
shaddai, Eloah, Elohi and Eloahim, etc.) and their meanings have been
17
merged into the single word, God, in the English language. The name
YHWH and the variations of El were interchanged in the scriptures with
Lord and God. With this being revealed, we should then know that it
would be almost impossible for mankind to have a clear understanding of
the Bible in its modern form. This practice of deception has brought
about great confusion to those seeking to understand what the Bible is
saying and who is being spoken to. Therefore, we must be very careful
when translating or transliterating names and words from one language
and culture to another. In doing so, we arrive at different names,
meanings and messages which causes us not to recognize the original.
To alter and minipulate names or words in a message will ultimately
bring about confusion to those on the receiving end of that message.
Will you reject wisdom, knowledge and truth? Will you reject that which
is being revealed to you at this moment in time, or will you continue on
your path of tradition?
Many men will argue and debate over these things and say, “We are not
Hebrew or Aramaic” and will continue to hold on to their traditions and
continue to say Lord and God by which their true ignorance is displayed.
They will say that what they believe has worked for them so far. If this is
true, then we may say, “We are not ancient pagan Greeks or Latin and in
these interpretations we have found many errors, inconsistencies and
deliberate deceptions. Just ask yourself one question. Why is the name
of YHWH ( )הוהיhidden under a Greek word called the Tetragrammaton?
Would the average believer even know to research this word? This alone
is worth questioning. The Bible does not lead us to believe that He has
revealed His name and then again, concealed it. Man alone has created
the concept that the Creator has many names. Can man not distinguish
the difference between a title and a name. If He has revealed Himself as
YHWH ()הוהי, then that is His name. Why would He change it? He says
that He does not change (Malachi 3:6). Who then gave man the authority
to change His name? According to the scriptures, He is consistent, and
by changing His name, this would make Him inconsistent. Only man is
inconsistent. Remember, if He is the Almighty of the Hebrew, then He is
the Almighty of the Bible, and if you believe in the Almighty of the bible,
then He is your Almighty, and YHWH ( )הוהיis his name. Please know that
YHWH ()הוהי, the Father, would not confuse his children by giving himself
multiple names. Yet on the other hand, man and his many philosophies
is known to complicate even the most simple things.
It is truly amazing when you see and hear the response of individuals
when the name YHWH ( )הוהיis spoken to those who are familiar with it.
It is even more amazing as to how many professing believers that have
never even heard of the Heavenly Father’s name. When one choses not to
follow the majority and refuses to speak the names Lord and God, he or
she suddenly runs the risk of being looked upon as being strange or as
being apart of some cult or sacred name group. Anyone who dares to
openly question what mainstream believers practice and teach will
usually be looked upon as being under adversarial influence. This too is
proven by history. The truth is, those who are ignorant of the name
19
YHWH ( )הוהיas well as those who rebel against the use of it are the ones
that are lost and deceived. Let no one deceive you. All one has to do is
take the time to search for the truth.
The best way to research the truth, is to examine the various arguments
of the many religious groups and their denomonations and then compare
them to what the Bible and historical records actually say. If you were to
look in the various encyclopedias, history books and dictionaries and
then ask yourself and others, why do most believers not know these
truths? Why has the name of the Creator been concealed? The overall
plan was to conceal the name so it would not be spoken. If you don’t
know it, you can’t speak it. If you can’t speak it, you can’t prove it. If you
can’t prove it, you can’t trust it. If there is plan of deception, then what
would be more deceiving than to conceal the name of the Creator and
replace it with pagan names such as Lord, God and Jehovah. WOW! Can
you see the plan of deception working?
The Bible places great emphasis on knowing and trusting in the name of
YHWH ()הוהי. It also speaks of how His people will not know His name
and many will despise it. Solomon even asks the question:
What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know?
(Proverbs 30:4)
The great name Yahweh, the creator of the universe, is by far the worlds
best kept secret.
20
CHAPTER 2
Who is the messiah that the Bible speaks of? We know the Old
Testament spoke of his coming and gave some specific details of his
identity, life and purpose. The messianic scriptures (New Testament) is
about his life and teachings. This very subject has brought division and
confusion among those whose very belief system is founded on the Old
Testament as it is with Judaism, Christianity and the Islamic faith. To
the majority of those who believe in the messianic scriptures (New
Testament), the messiah is called by the name and title, Jesus Christ.
Upon this name, Christianity was formed. Several billion Christians
worldwide profess that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. Since
we now know the word God was a false substitution for the name YHWH
( )הוהיand Elohim in the Bible, we then have to ask the questions. Is
Jesus the son of YHWH? ()הוהי. And is the son of YHWH ( )הוהיnamed
Jesus? One thing we know for sure is that the messiah of the Bible was a
Hebrew.
A theophoric name (Greek: "bearing a deity") embeds the name of a god, both
invoking and displaying the protection of that deity.
21
Theophoric names were also exceedingly common in the Ancient Near East and
Mesopotamia, where the personal name of an individual included the name of a god
in whose care the individual is entrusted.
The name of the Israelite deity YHWH (usually shortened to Yah or Yahu) appears
in many theophoric names of the First Temple Period. This practice of naming is
not limited to ancient Israel or Judah but has been a common practice of many
cultures. (cf., e.g., the Hebrew “Yedid-yahu”, i.e., YHWH has loved,).
The following is a list of a few true Hebrew names from the Bible and
their meanings along with the modern English spelling.
The word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, which in turn is the
transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, or Joshua, or again Jehoshua meaning
“Jehovah is salvation”.
Jesus (The Name) in English the name Jesus is a transliteration of the Latin form
Iesus, which represents the Greek form Ihsouz of the Hebrew name Yesua.
The word Christ, Christos, the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word messias,
meaning “anointed”.
In the same article it goes on to speak of the period in which the word
was being translated, and it says:
But at this stage the Greeks and Romans understood little or nothing about the
import of the word anointed; to them it did not convey any sacred conception.
It also says:
The pagans made little or no effort to learn anything accurate about Christ and the
Christians.
After examining the above information and the origin of the name Jesus
and the title Christ, we are now left to ask some very serious questions.
What name are believers to call upon for salvation, as it is told in the
Bible? By what name will those who believe, be healed? What is the
name that the servants of YHWH ()הוהי, are supposed to perform the great
works that are spoken of in the scriptures?
According to the evidence that has been provided, we know that Jesus
was not the name that the messiah was born with. His name has also
been altered or transliterated as some would say. Besides, Jesus is not a
Hebrew name. It is a Greek name, and most people with the name
spelled J-e-s-u-s, don’t pronounce it in the same manner. It is
pronounced HEY-SOOS, or HEY- ZEUS. Is Jesus a theophoric name? If
not, then who is Zeus? Oh, that’s right; he is the Greek pagan god. Next
question. How often does the letter S make the Z sound as in Jezus?
Hmmmm! Next question. Why was his name changed from Iesous to
Iesus, as it was written in the original 1611 King James version of the
Bible? Why was it changed from Ihsouz to Iesous? Oh yes, now I
24
remember. This all came about as the name was being altered from one
language to another to another which should leave us with great
suspicions. What about the Hebrew name Yeshua? We know that this
name does not give any glory to Yahweh as does so many other Hebrew
servants. Why is this? The messiah was speaking on behalf of His Father
and it was foretold that He would come in His Father’s name. After all,
they were united as one in heaven. So why would He not have some part
of His Fathers name. Does Yeshua or Yehoshua give glory to Yahweh?
Even His title messiah has the Yah sound and in Hebrew it would be
Meshai’Yah. Even the word Halleluiah has the Yah sound. In Chapter 1
of The Tetragrammaton and the Christian Greek Scriptures, under the
heading: THE PRONUNCIATION OF GOD'S NAME it states:
Many people have been saying Hallelu-YAH for years not knowing that
they are giving praise to Yah. So again we ask the question. Who does
Yeshua give glory to? According to The Hebraic Tongue Restored, by
Fabre d’Olivet, page 462, it tells us that the Hebrew word shua comes
from the Hebrew word yasha which means to serve as a safeguard; which
preserves. Also, according to the Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old
Testament, by Brown, Driver and Briggs, page 447, the word yasha
means deliverance, rescue, salvation and also safety and welfare. What is
also observed is that The Catholic Encyclopedia tells us in the article
“Origin of the Name of Jesus Christ”, the name Yeshua means Jehovah is
Salvation. This presents a real problem for anyone that has understood
anything that has been previously revealed. Jehovah does not exist! This
name was the invention of some very deceived and rebellious translators
during the middle ages. How can He be Jehovah’s salvation if Jehovah
does not exist? Once again we have to say, Hmmmm. There is something
very strange going on here. Let’s get this straight. According to those who
tell us that Jesus is the messi-YAH, he was first Yeshua or Yehoshua
(Yehovah or Jehovah is salvation), then he was Ihsouz or Iesous to the
Greeks and Romans and then shortened to Iesus, and after the invention
of the letter J, he then became Jesus which sounds like Je-Zeus. WOW!
Once again, this is not an effort to persuade anyone to believe anything.
Just look at the facts. What does the evidence say, or are believers
supposed to have blind faith and not question the motives of corrupt
ancient pagan leaders. Ask your church leader to explain these strange
coincidences. I’m sure you will be given a compelling theory to explain
this.
25
There are hundreds of explanations as to where the name 'Jesus' came from, and
even more explanations as to what the name means. What we do know for sure is
that it originates from the Hebrew [ יהושועyehoshua`]. Breaking the name down, we
see that there are two parts: [ יהוyahu], the theophoric reference to the deity
Yahweh, and the three letter root שוע. Due to disputes over how to render שוע
lexically there are a number of generally accepted phrases this combination can
translate to:
• "Yahweh saves"
• "Yahweh is salvation"
• "Yahweh is [my] help"
• "Yahweh (is) a saving-cry"
Again, all the above translations are making a referecne to the deity
Yahweh. Does Yehoshua or Yeshua have any part of Yah or Yahu? Lets
continue with the article.
During the Exile to Babylon where the vernacular language of the Jewish people
shifted from Hebrew to Aramaic, [ יהושועyehoshua`] underwent a morphological
change into the form [ ישועyeshua`]. Theophoric references, where in Hebrew would
usually come in the form of [ יהyah] or [ יהוyahu], in some dialects of Aramaic were
[ יאya'] . This shortening also allowed for some confusion, as the 3rd person
imperfect form of [ שואshua`] (to save) is ישוע, allowing the Aramaic name to take on
the meaning "He will save." (On whose behalf is He doing the saving?)
From Greek, ησος [Iēsous] moved into Latin with the authorship of the Latin
Vulgate. The morphological jump this time was not as large as previous changes
between language families. ησος [Iēsous] quickly assimilated into Iesus [Iesus],
where it stood for many centuries.
Near the end of Middle English, the vowels changed during the Great Vowel Shift in
the 15th century, and the letter 'J' was first distinguished from 'I' by the Frenchman
Pierre Ramus in the 16th, but did not become common in Modern English until the
17th century. As such we can see that such works as the first edition of the King
James Version of the Bible in 1611 continues to the name with an I.
Finally, after thousands of years and several languages later, the name finally came
to rest as the Modern English "Jesus”
Lets examine the the original 1611 King James version and see how
these names were originally written.
26
As you can see, in verse 27 the name Elizeus was written instead of the
prophet Elias, which is Elisha. This was eventually changed. Hmmmm! It
was very common to see the prophets being called Zeus in the early
translations of the Bible. The later translations eventually corrected
these references.
27
What are we to conclude from this evidence? We do know that the Greeks
were pagans and their chief diety was named Zeus. Could it be that in
their translations of the scriptures they would not give any glory to the
Most High of the Hebrew people? It is a known fact that in the Greek
Religion, salvation was of Zeus. The Greek culture also had theophoric
names that gave glory to the gods Zeus and Apollo and so on. This is
evident in the names of the Greeks. In an article on Zeus by Ron
Leadbetter it states the following:(please note the underlined words)
Zeus, the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea, he was the supreme ruler of Mount
Olympus and of the Pantheon of gods who resided there. Being the supreme ruler he
upheld law, justice and morals, and this made him the spiritual leader of both gods
and men. Zeus was a celestial god, and originally worshiped as a weather god by the
Greek tribes. These people came southward from the Balkans circa 2100 BCE. He
has always been associated as being a weather god, as his main attribute is the
thunderbolt, he controlled thunder, lightning and rain. Theocritus wrote circa 265
BCE: "sometimes Zeus is clear, sometimes he rains". He is also known to have
caused thunderstorms. In Homer's epic poem the Iliad he sent thunderstorms
against his enemies. The name Zeus is related to the Greek word dios, meaning
"bright". His other attributes as well as lightning were the scepter, the eagle and his
aegis (this was the goat-skin of Amaltheia).
Before the abolition of monarchies, Zeus was protector of the king and his family.
Once the age of Greek kings faded into democracy he became chief judge and
peacemaker, but most importantly civic god. He brought peace in place of violence
and Hesiod (circa 700 BCE) describes Zeus as "the lord of justice". Zeus was also
known as "Kosmetas" (orderer), "Soter" (savior), "Polieos" (overseer of the polis,
city) and "Eleutherios" (guarantor of political freedoms). His duties in this role
were to maintain the laws, protect suppliants, to summon festivals and to give
prophecies (his oldest and most famous oracle was at Dodona, in Epirus,
northwestern Greece). As the supreme deity Zeus oversaw the conduct of civilized
life. But the "father of gods and men" as Homer calls him, has many mythological
tales.
Is this why it is said by many that the name Jesus means “Son of Zeus”
or “Hail Zeus”? Is it ridiculous to argue that the pagans could have also
erased the name of the Hebrew Messiah and created a hybrid name to fit
the god of their belief system? Or should believers not heed the words of
the apostle and “Prove all things”?
When we research the etymology (origin) of the name Jesus, we find the
following examples:
JESUS
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Theology, Biblical
Pronounced: JEE-zus
English form of Ιησους (Iesous), which was the Greek form of the Aramaic name
ֻ ( יYeshu'a). Yeshu'a is itself a contracted form of Yehoshu'a (see JOSHUA).
ֵַשׁע
The etymology of the name Jesus tells us that the name is from the
Greek form Iesous. Iesous is from the Aramaic name Yeshua which is an
abbreviated form of Yehoshua. It also tells us that we should reference
the name Joshua, as it would be properly translated into English. Let us
now examine the name Joshua.
JOSHUA
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English, Biblical
Pronounced: JAH-shu-wa, JAW-shwa
As we can see, the name Jesus is a variant of the name Joshua. From
the example given as to how the name is pronounced, we see the name is
pronounced JAH with the shuwa (shua), which means to save or rescue.
What we must remember is that the Hebrew alphabet has no letter J or J
sound. If we properly insert the Y, we would then have Yah, and then
adding the shua would give us Yahshua, which is a contracted form of
Yahushua, which means Yahu Saves or Yahweh is Salvation. This would
be more consistent with the many theophoric Hebrew names.
29
This would then leave us with the question as to why Joshua from the
Bible is not also called Jesus and why Jesus is not properly translated
into English as Joshua. Hmmmm!
The next question is, how did we come up with the title Christ from
which Christianity was formed. We know from the information previously
revealed, the pagans and the Hebrews had different beliefs in regards to
the word anointed and its meaning. To the Hebrew, the word Mashai’Yah
( ָמשִׁ י ַחor Mashiach which is where we get the English word messiah,
means anointed with oil as is reserved for Kings, Priests and Prophets.
The word “Messiah” means anointed one, referring to Him as Sovereign
or King, as Samuel anointed David. The Greek word Christos (Χριστός,),
which is where we get the word Christ is said to also mean anointed and
is the pagan version of the Hebrew word meaning messiah. It is believed
that the word Christos (Greek: anointed) means to smear and rub with
oil in a sensual manner as in a pagan sex rite. Remember, the Greeks
were pagans and pagans worshipped many fertility goddesses. We will
elaborate on paganism in a later chapter. As for now, we should
understand why the Catholic Encyclopedia states that the pagans knew
nothing about the significance of anointing to the Hebrews, nor did they
try to understand. Therefore, it must be understood that the Messiah
and his followers were never called Christians in their own language. The
word Christian was another deliberate false substitution by the pagan
translators in an effort to merge their beliefs with the word of YHWH
()הוהי.
He goes on to say :
“the Greek language, having reigned for centuries over philosophy, became the
vehicle of Christian literature and ritual; the Greek mysteries passed down into the
impressive mystery of the Mass. Other pagan cultures contributed to the syncretist
result”.
Finally he states:
“Christianity became the last and greatest of the mystery religions”
30
It is quite obvious that these names and titles were not intented to be
altered in such a manner. This too has brought about great deception
and confusion.
After careful examination of the name and title of the Messiah as it has
been suspiciously presented to us for centuries, we will now see what
information and clues the Bible has given us about His name and
identity. According to the Bible, we are told that He would come bearing
His Fathers name. So why would He not have a theophoric name? He
was by all accounts, very obedient to the will of YHWH ()הוהי, and gave all
glory to His Father.
For I have not spoken on my own authority; but the Father who sent
Me gave me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore,
whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak. (John
12:49-50)
“You both know Me, and you know where I am from: and I have not
come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me”. (John 7: 28-
29)
After telling you His name, YHWH ( )הוהיsays that he will not give his
glory to another. What does this mean? Is He a liar? Or does this mean
that He will not give His glory to any other? Again, He repeats His name
and then says something even more astonishing:
Indeed Before the day was, I am He; and ther is no one who can
deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it? (Isaiah 43:
13).
YHWH ( )הוהיis telling those who believe in Him that there is no savior
besides Him. No one can reverse what He has caused to be. No one! This
was foretold in the Old Testament. Does this mean that the Bible is
inconsistant? Of course not! This just goes to show the importance of the
names that have been altered and erased and the damage that has been
done by doing so.
• Wilhelm Gesenius:
or YW [Yo]", yet other evidence convinced Gesenius that God's name was
"Yahweh" not "Yehowah".
In this way can the abbreviated syllables YHW [Yeho] and YH [Yo], with
which many proper names begin, be more satisfactorily explained."
:George Wesley Buchanan Professor Emeritus, Wesley Theological Seminary
Washington, DC
In section # 3.1 is found a table of Theophoric names with "Yeho" and "Yo"
prefixes. The Data in that table is found in a 1958 reprint of the 1890 Edition
of James Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of The Bible. All the Hebrew
names listed are Theophoric names starting with "[ "יְהוֹi.e. "Yeho"] or ""יוֹ
[i.e. "Yo"]. James Strong believed that all of these Theophoric names were
derived from Hebrew word # 3068, [i.e. " = "יְהֺוָהYehovah].
Some of the worlds most noted scholars agree that the theophoric names
which begin with Yeho (Jeho) prefixes are derived from the hybrid name
Yehowah and Yehovah which is were we get Jehovah. This would include
the name Yehoshua which was altered to Yeshua. This shows us that
someone went to great extremes to present the theory of Yehoshua
eventually becoming Jesus. Hmmmm! This theory of Jesus being the
name of the Messiah with its many flaws and suspisions will continue to
be supported by those who refuse to acknowledge the obvious. What is
also little known fact is that much of the construction of the modern
English language was centered around Christian Philosophy. You may
ask the question, “ What does this mean”? Simply stated, the great
ancient world powers created words and language to justify their actions
and philosophy.
This truth, like all truth, is difficult to accept. Again, it would be much
easier for those who follow the masses to discredit the evidence that has
beeen presented. The same evidence that is written in the very book that
professing believers claim to study and observe. This type of truth also
brings about a very obvious response. That is, anger, disbelief and
rebellion. Remember, if you love what you believe more than you love
truth, then you are incapable of receiving truth and therefore you are
doomed.
33
There are those who love church, church members and the leaders of the
church, more than they love the Heavenly Fahter and His truth. A
gentleman by the name of Samuel Taylor Coleridge once wrote:
He who begins by loving Christianity better than Truth will proceed by loving his own
sect or church better than Christianity, and end by loving himself better than all. --
Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834)
With these things being said and if truth is embrased, then we must
agree with the painful but obvious truth. Jesus Saves No One! This is
also one of the worlds best kept secrets.
This is the very type of confusion that has caused many people to
become skeptical of the Bible’s authenticity. People have questioned for
years whether or not the scriptures are truth or mythology. The truth is,
the Greeks were notorious for embracing the beliefs, knowledge and
traditions of other nations and claiming them as their own, as many of
their pagan rituals and beliefs were adopted from the Egyptians and
Babylonians.
What also may not be known to the average professing believers is that
there are several books of the Bible that are not included in the modern
day translations along with what is called the Christian Cannon . The
Apocrypha as these books are called, include 14 books and writings that
often give detailed accounts of the torture and tyranny that the Hebrews
faced for not abandoning their beliefs and culture and converting to the
Greek way of life. Until 1880 almost every translated version of the bible
contained 80 books until it was then reduced to 66 for some unexplained
reason. Modern day Christians were left with the thought that these
books were for some reason not authoritative doctrine.
the pagan beliefs in the modern translations of the book of Acts 14:12-13
when Paul and Barnabas were called Zeus and Hermes (Greek Gods).
Also in Acts 19:35 when Zeus is again mentioned. It is widely believed by
historians that even the early paintings of Jesus were taken from the
image of Zeus. The History Channel aired a special on 6-22-06, called
“The Seven Wonders Of The World” as they explored the ancient statues
and temples of Zeus. They also made reference to the early paintings of
Jesus resembling Zeus.
This 11th century Greek image of Jesus is one of many in which a sun cross halo is
used.
The fact that people of one culture were forced to convert to the ways of
those who ruled over them has always been a part of human history. If
any research was done on these ancient cultures, it would be easy to
identify these facts. We will elaborate on these topics in a later chapter.
This is the very reason the Bible says, “He deceives the whole world”
and “Prove All Things”. If a believer is not willing to prove things, then
he or she is willing to allow themselves to be deceived.
There are many rebellious and deceived leaders who will try to convince
those who wish to know truth, to continue to believe in the name of
35
Jesus, when the evidence clearly shows that this was not the name given
to the Messiah at birth. Is the name that believers are to trust and call
upon so irrelevant that man can change it at will? Or, will man reason
within himself again and say, “It doesn’t matter what name we use, the
lord knows what is in our heart”. This too displays ignorance. Has YHWH
( )הוהיnot given His people a mind to reason for themselves? Just maybe,
that often quoted biblical scripture that says, “My people are destroyed
for a lack of knowledge”, is true.
“Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see(Isaiah 42:18)
“seeing many things but you do not observe, opening the ears but
he does not hear” (Isaiah 42:20)
“and you shall call His name Yahushua, for He will save His people
from their sins”. (Matthew 1:21)
The name Yahushua was properly given to the Messiah because it clearly
explaines his purpose and it is also consistant with the many theophoric
Hebrew names that give glory to the Heavenly Father YHWH ()הוהי. He
was also called Immanuel, meaning El is with us. Before being born into
his earthly form and becoming Yahushua, the Messiah presided in the
expanse (heavan) with the family of YHWH ( )הוהיwhere he too was called
by the name YHWH ()הוהי. How is this possible, you might ask. In order
to find truth in scriptures, one must use all of the scriptures in harmony
and not just study one half as if the other does not exist. After having
knowledge as to how man has altered and erased names and words, one
must then apply the appropriate names in order to gain some
understanding as to what was being said and who was being spoken to.
This is vital to those who believe and trust in the Heavenly Father.
36
Yahushua on earth was Yahu Yahweh in heaven, being the lesser of the
two Yahweh’s. There was the Father Yahweh and the Angel/Son Yahweh.
In order to bring a clear understanding to this subject, we must examine
the Bible to see if in fact this is the case. According to the Gospel of
John, the Son was in the beginning with the father. It says:
In the beginning was the word, and the word was with Elohim
(YHWH), and the word was Elohim (YHWH). He was in the beginning
with Elohim (YHWH). All things were made through Him and without
Him; nothing was made that was made. (John 1:1-3)
(Note: In the Hebrew language, “word” is “Logos”)
The Bible tells us that the Son(being the word) was in the beginning with
the Father and they were called Elohim(properly: Eloahim/plural). This
also shows the unity of the Father and Son. It also states:
And the word became flesh and tabernacled among us and we behold
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of
grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to
bring you to into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him
and obey his voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your
transgression; for My name is in Him. (Exodus 23: 20-21) (Note: The
Hebrew word for Angel is Malak: meaning, messenger or servant)
This statement clearly shows that there was more than one (Elohim) in
this process. We can see that the Father Yahweh ()הוהי, was providing the
instructions, and the son Yahweh ()הוהי, who is also the Angel (Malak)
who was carrying out the orders. To provide further evidence of this
point, we will look at more scriptural passages to show that the son,
while being in heaven with the father, they were united (akhad) as one
37
and he too was Yahweh ()הוהי. In 1 Timothy 6:13-16 it tells us that the
Father Yahweh ( )הוהיalone dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man
has seen or can see. If this is true then we must ask the questions. Who
was it that appeared to Abraham in Genesis 12:6, before destroying
Sodom and Gomorrah? Who then appeared to Isaac in Genesis 26:2?
Who was it that appeared and spoke to Moses and gave him the
Commandments and the Laws? Who visited Adam in the Garden of
Eden? There is a multitude of passages that could be given in reference
to Yahweh ( )הוהיappearing before his servants and prophets. So we know
that if no man has seen the Father who is unapproachable, then they
could only have seen Yahweh ()הוהי, the son who is approachable.
And the Father Himself, who sent me, has testified of Me. You have
neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. (John 5: 27)
As we said in the first chapter of this book, the scriptures began to come
alive when the proper names are in place. Knowing that the words Lord
and God were interchanged with YHWH ( )הוהיand Elohim, your Creator
and your Salvation becomes clear. This brings understanding to what
has been confusing to people for generations. Now we can continue to
provide evidence as to how Yahushua the Messiah was his earthly name
and he was also the Son named YHWH ()הוהי.
Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the
beginning from the time that it was, I was there. And now YHWH
( )הוהיand His Spirit have sent Me. Thus says YHWH ( )הוהיyour
redeemer, the Holy one of Israel: I am YHWH ( )הוהיyour Eloahi who
teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.
(Isaiah 48:16-17)
All of these scriptural references clearly show that there were two
Yahweh’s and the Son named Yahweh was the word and voice of the
Father Yahweh whom no man has seen or heard His voice. This also
brings understanding to the verse in Isaiah that says;
