Dont
1. Dont study from a translation thats hard to understand. There are easy-to-read modern translations in every major language in the world. 2. Dont study from unreliable translations. (Reliable translations can be verified. Translations by only one person or by one religious group, and versions trying to paraphrase the texts meaning should be avoided.) 3. Dont expect every word to have a literal meaning. But dont dismiss a passage just because the literal meaning would be surprising or supernatural. 4. Dont speculate. 5. Dont bring your own agenda to the passage. 6. Dont leave out passages that clearly address your topic, even if theyre difficult to understand. 7. Dont stop studying the Bible; keep wrestling with difficult passages. 8. Dont expect the Bible to have answers to every question you may ask. 9. Dont expect the Bible to be something its not. For example, its not a science text book. 10. Dont focus on book knowledge or Bible trivia to the exclusion of trying to live by what you clearly understand.
