The Pattern Crochet edging Foundation round: Chain 42 and join with slip stitch in first chain to form a ring. (The number of stitches has to be a multiple of 6. The Foundation round is a little wider. After the second round the circumference should be about 8 inches.) First round: Chain 3 and work a double crochet in the first loop of the chain stitches. Chain 1 and skip 2 stitches of the set-up round. Work 1 double crochet in the third chain. Now chain 1 and skip two lower chains, then work two double crochets in one chain.

first round o o o o o o set up chains Continue and alternate between 1 double crochet and 2 double crochets. The round has to end with 1 double crochet. The last chain stitch is dropped and the round isnt closed.

Second round: chain The second round looks a little more complicated. If you understand the principle, however, it is not difficult. First make five double crochets around the first double crochet of the first round (right red arrow).

Insert the hook before the first double crochet, pass under that double crochet and come out between the two double crochets. Now work the double crochets (left photo).

The middle photo shows the first double crochet, the right the first five. After working the five double crochets chain 1 and work the next group of five double crochets (left arrow in the diagram above). Now insert left of the second double crochet and come up between the two double crochets (left photo).

chain Finish the pattern repeat with a slip stitch in the single double crochet of the first round (middle photo). Repeat 6 times (right photo). Repeat the first and the second round 3 times. Work the 2 double crochets in the middle gap of the scale, 1 double crochet in the space between two scales. Finish the crochet edge with a round of single crochets. Work 5 single crochets in each pattern repeat: two over the chain from the first round, one in the middle gap of the scale and again two over the chain from the first round (not in the space between two scales.)

Knitted Wrist Now pick up one knit stitch from each of the 35 single crochets. Knit 40 rounds. Bind off loosely.
