Global Warming Affecting the Earth Introduction: Recently an experiment was tested regarding the effects on an overdose of CO2

(carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere. It is a scientific fact that producers use carbon dioxide to produce oxygen, so it might be beneficial to producers that human interaction with the environment causes so much carbon dioxide to be released into the environment. This experiment would prove whether this is true. The experiment consisted of two plants; one was used as the independent variable because it was exposed to an excessive amount of carbon dioxide in a closed environment. The second plant was used as a control; it was subjected to a normal environment producers typically thrive in. Grass was used as the test subject because it is the most common plant in areas where human presence is. The results with this experiment were very interesting. The plant subjected to an overuse of carbon dioxide was very unhealthy and limp, while the control was grooving healthy and thick. The exposure to nothing but carbon dioxide caused the grass to not be able to grow but to about two centimeters. This experiment proved that too much carbon dioxide in plants environment makes it grow weak and unhealthy.

Methods: This experiment required two plants in the same conditions and environment so that there were no variables that could affect the outcome of the experiment other than the exposure of carbon dioxide (which is the independent variable). The grass needed to be in a stable environment to minimize the chances of exposure to other factors. To release a stable amount of carbon dioxide for the grass there were matches lit in a separate container with a hose connecting them. For the control in this experiment, there was an open container allowing grass to be exposed to normal amounts of CO2. The dependent variable in this experiment was how the grass with an overdose of carbon dioxide compared with the grass in normal growing conditions. The experiment was very controlled which allowed only the independent variable (the CO 2) to affect the growth of the plant.

Results: This table shows the data of plant growth over the time span of 10 days. Day 1 Plant 1(experiment) No growth Plant 2(control) No growth what was done Lit 3 matches in the experimental plant. Conclusion: How will an overdose of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere affect plant lie on earth. The hypothesis stated was that more carbon dioxide exposed to plants will have them growing at a faster, healthier rate. This hypothesis was disproved because of the results of the experiment were that the plant in the control group was growing at a much healthier rate than the plant in the experimental group which was very pale and limp. Both plants were given an even amount of water but the plant in the experimental group was given more of an exposure to carbon dioxide from matches. It is a scientific fact that plants take in carbon dioxide in order to produce oxygen, but when the plants receive too much, they have a hard time taking in too much of one resource. The control group grew so healthy because they got a stable amount of carbon dioxide from the people in the room. Plants need a balance of sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to photosynthesize. This knowledge could be used all over the industrial field. Gaining this information could make people who manage factories be more considerate to how much carbon dioxide they release into the atmosphere. The other fields of study that this information could be applied to would be technology engineering so, for example, engineers could make cars that will release enough CO2 in the atmosphere to agree with the environment. Human interaction is affecting nature mostly in harmful ways. Global warming is just one example of humans affecting the environment in a negative way. Knowing how to avoid situations like this could preserve earths natural beauty and ability to support life.

Abstract: How does too much carbon dioxide affect earths plants? This experiment was meant to answer that question by comparing the growth rate of 2 plants: one with an overdose of carbon dioxide, and one exposed to normal conditions. The experimental plant got carbon dioxide via matches and the control group was subjected to normal conditions. The experimental plant grew very unhealthy and limp while the control plant grew thick and tall. What was concluded from this experiment is that too much of any resource is harmful to plants. Sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide must be balanced to give the plant a proper environment to photosynthesize.
