Hear ye, hear ye! Announcing VBS 2013, The Mighty GodGod Leads Moses and Me will soon be commencing. You will nd this VBS tis most splendid! Aye, our castle exploration will begin in the blue room where your squires will learn how much God loved Moses and how much God loves you also and has a great plan for your life. You will embark on the next castle stop in the green room where the squires will learn how God called Moses and how He calls every squire through reading His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. From there, you will enter into the orange room on your castle exploration where the squires will understand about how God spared the Israelites by the Passover and how that relates to Jesus being the Passover Lamb for all and, with acceptance, salvation is freely given. Tis the greatest treasure! You will set out for the red room where the squires will learn how God led Moses and the Israelites and how God also leads you through life. Your castle exploration will conclude at the purple room where the squires will learn how God cared for Moses and the Israelites and how God cares and provides for you also. While exploring The Mighty God, you will discover there is nothing too hard for thee: . . . the Great, the Mighty God (Jeremiah 32:17,18). In preparation for this life-changing VBS, use this book as a guide to help you through the process from beginning to end. As you prepare to take on the task of being the VBS director, spend time alone in prayer. Pray for the staff, teachers, children and their families that through Vacation Bible School many lives will be eternally changed. Thats what its all about! For some kids, VBS is the only time they will hear about Jesus and the gift He has given us. Take advantage of the time you have with them. What say ye? Aye! I bid you, come hither and lets go to work on this most splendid adventure!

Overview

VBS Overview
Bible Event Setting
The Nile River Exodus 1:16, 17; 2:1-10

Student Application
Each student is special to God (Psalm 139:14, 16), and He has a special plan for each life that begins by realizing Gods love for the student (John 3:16) and the students meed to believe in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Memory Verse
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Lesson Student Purpose Objective

The student will understand that God loves him and has a great plan for his life.

m a S
The Passover at an Israelite House in Egypt 12:1 Exodus 12:1-14
The Passover pictures Gods salvation in the sacrice of Jesus, the Lamb of God. Christs sacrice means God can forgive our sins and save us (1 Cor. 5:7; 1 Peter 1:18, 19; 3:18; Isa. 53:3-6). At the age of accountability, each student can experience Gods personal salvation when he invites Jesus into his life.

The Burning Bush Exodus 3:1-18

Each student can expect God to call him to repentance and faith in Christ as the Holy Spirit convicts when the Bible is taught. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring conviction (John 16:7-11).

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5, 6

e l p
The student will acknowledge that God speaks to him today through the Bible and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. I am called by God. The student will comprehend that Jesus died on the cross to save him from his sins. I am saved by God. The student will come to see that God will guide him through life. I am led by God. The student will realize that God I am kept by will provide his God. needs.

I am loved by God.

The Red Sea Exodus 13:17-22; 14:13-31

As God led Moses, each student can trust God to lead him in life by the teaching of Scripture and conviction of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14-17).

The Wilderness Desert Exodus 16:4, 12-15; 17:5, 6

As God provided for them, He will supply the students needs like food and clothing (Matthew 6:25-33; Philippians 4:18, 19).

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Choose Your VBS Location

Your Church: This is the obvious and usual choice of the location for most Vacation
Bible Schools. Using your church as the setting of your VBS opens the doors to visitors who otherwise may not enter. It is convenient because you are in control of the facilities.

A Local School: This would be a good option for you if your church is not big enough to

hold all the kids who will come for VBS. During the summer most schools are not in session which would make it a great option.

A Local Park: With this option you would draw kids who normally wouldnt go to a church.

Check with the local parks and recreation department about using the facility to host the VBS.

Weekday Evenings: This is becoming the usual choice of time for most Vacation Bible

Schools since more mothers are working outside the home. Having the VBS in the evening will allow people who work during the day the opportunity to work in VBS. See sample evening schedules on pages 20-22.

Weekday Mornings: This would be a good option for you if you have many teachers who
are out for summer break and many stay-at-home moms. See sample morning schedule on page 21.

One Day VBS: With this option you hold VBS in one day. Many people in a church would
be willing to take one day off to help with VBS, but it would be harder for them to take off a week. If you hold the VBS on a Saturday, you will get several workers who normally have to work during the week. See sample one day schedule on page 23.

Rotational VBS Format

In the rotational style of VBS, each group of students will travel to different locations each day and have different teachers each day. For example, the beginners may go to the green room while the primaries go to the purple room. In this style, a teacher will teach the lesson once a day and will have different age-groups each day. After the Bible lesson, the group will rotate to different locations for activity pages or books and Live-It! Cards, music, crafts, snacks, games and missions. With this style, each group will have guides to go with them to the various locations.

Modied-Rotational VBS Format

In the modied-rotational style of VBS, each group of students will travel to the same locations each day. In this style a teacher will teach the lesson to every age-group in one day. This is a great option for you if you have ve great teachers but who cant work every day of VBS because the teacher will teach the lessons all in one day and is nished. After the lesson, they will do the activity pages or student books that go along with the lessons and have the Live-It! Cards. The groups will rotate to different locations for music, crafts, snacks, games and missions. With this format, each group will have guides to go with them to the various locations.

Publicity Ideas
Lets face it, the primary reason we have VBS is to share Jesus with the lost. How will people know the where, when and how of VBS if we dont tell them? Clear publicizing of VBS is crucial for a successful VBS. Use The Mighty God bulletin covers or publicity yers. Decorate the foyer of the church with The Mighty God theme. Hang posters with the VBS information around the church. Wear The Mighty God T-shirts in the weeks leading up to VBS. Hand out prayer reminders. (See Resource CD.) Add VBS information to the church website. Play The Mighty God music when people are entering church in the weeks leading to VBS. Recruit workers for The Mighty God Fun Festival to raise awareness and excitement for the upcoming VBS. Use the letterhead to spread out VBS information. (See Resource CD.)

Announce The Mighty God to your community by hanging a vinyl banner with VBS information. Hang publicity posters at popular hangout spots, restaurants, stores and gas stations around your community. Send postcards inviting people to VBS. Hand deliver invitations ( see Resource CD) and doorknob hangers to people in your neighborhood with VBS information. Use the local radio station, newspaper, Internet and television to promote your VBS. With permission, stand outside busy stores and hand out invitations with VBS information on them and invite people to VBS. Place VBS community yard signs in church members yards to promote VBS.

Kick-off Ideas
Here are a couple of ideas to help get The Mighty God off to a great start.

The Sunday morning before VBS begins, have the kids and workers wear The Mighty God T-shirts and march in a parade to the theme song. Let the director say something about the upcoming VBS. Have a special prayer for VBS.

m a S
Invite all church members to get involved in setting up the church for VBS one or two days before VBS begins. Set up, move, arrange tables and chairs. Complete the church and room decorations.

With all the fun and Bible learning going on, the kids can work up an appetite. These snacks tie into the Bible lesson or theme of the day. With adult preparation the kids, for the most part, can make these snacks. Make your village pantry come to life by decorating the room and dressing the part. Serve the food wearing long aprons. Cover the tables with brown paper and transform the paper into a wooden plank table by drawing the planks and the grain of wood using a black marker. The kids are sure to appreciate your creativity, hard work and, most of all, the tasty snacks.

ALLERGIES: Double check any allergies the squires may have. Keep other snacks for those allergies.
