General Scope of Work: Program Assistant is responsible to coordinate and assist regional coordinators in relevant assessments and diagnostics to understand the technical assistance required by the key decision makers in the region. The person will support the development of technical assistance strategies for partner countries. The individual will be involved in planning, designing, implementing/sub-contracting and analysis of studies related to technical assistance and ensuring that such assistance is provided through relevant resources and expertise. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate and Implement the Asia technical assistance strategy in consultation with the CDKN team and partners and be accountable for delivery against agreed targets, milestones and reporting. Oversee the CDKN technical assistance programme, help develop, and conduct/manage in relevant thematic areas and others, as well as providing quality assurance to subcontracted research work. Prepare informative material including; policy briefs etc in coordination with research and KM team, and ensure expertise (relevant institutes, experts etc) is available for rapid response in regional countries. Develop and maintain smooth relationships with the country partners, in particular with the government representatives and the relevant ministries. Manage relationships with CDKN partners in the Asia region around technical assistance. Will involve preparing MOUs and sub-contracts, maintaining regular dialogue, Coordinating &synchronizing research activities, monitoring delivery and dealing with any problems arising. Develop close working relationships with regional and global project participants, partners and stakeholders in order to establish a shared vision and achieve CDKN objectives. Coordinate the publication of research material with the Knowledge Management team for effective utilization of research work and integration into policy. Coordinate with regional and country experts in various areas of sustainable development for engagement in technical assistance. Support Project Management Office in disposal of assignments and deliverables involving technical assistance. Provide support in the delivery of CDKN events (conferences, capacity building events, workshops, launches, etc.) Any other work as required.

Person Specifications Essential Knowledge/qualifications Masters degree in relevant field (climate change, development/environment/ information science), or equivalent experience in research and policy. Minimum of 1 year practical experience in climate change and relevant areas.

LEAD Pakistan Some demonstrated experience with countries and relevant organizations in the Asian region. Strong all round communication skills. Strong writing and editorial skills. Ability to understand and interpret complex issues for non-specialist and diverse audiences. Ability to identify and engage effectively with key contacts in media, government, developing country partners and other agencies. Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills. Excellent IT and Microsoft Office skills; practical experience with email and internet communication systems Willingness to travel occasionally
