Patrols, Potsdam Fire and Potsdam Rescue were dispatched to a working structure fire at 28 Pierrepont Avenue, a multi-unit rental house. All agencies responded. Upon initial response and investigation, the fire was determined to be suspicious in nature. All residents were evacuated safely from the structure without injury. The fire appeared to have been purposely set in a first floor bedroom. The person responsible for starting the fire was subsequently identified and interviewed by police. The investigation is ongoing at this time by both the Potsdam Police and St. Lawrence County Fire Investigators. Potsdam PD were/are assisted in the investigation by SUNY Potsdam PD, SUNY Canton PD, and New York State Police. Potsdam Fire was assisted on scene by West Potsdam Fire, West Stockholm Fire, Parishville Fire, and Hannawa Falls Fire Department. Patrols respond to Commercial Burglar Alarm activation. False alarm. Report of vandalism to a Depot Street business. Patrol responded and observed a bicycle thrown through a window. Investigation continues.
