My Precept Essay

Manuel Benny

"If we welcome and embrace the Holy Spirit, we can be transformed into great healers, teachers, leaders, and peacemakers." (A. Bofsosksi). Through Confirmation, we receive the Holy Spirit, to help others, teach others, lead others and make peace with others. Through this essay I will profile 5 amazing people: Pope Francis the great leader, Nelson Mandela the inspiring teacher, Martha Payne the courageous healer, Mahatma Gandhi the peacemaker and myself as a leader. Pope Francis is a shining path in our Christian lives. Pope Francis is very close with Jesus, our Saviour. He sacrificed to lead the church, God's community and help other people who are sick, homeless and even in a different religion! He wanted to show the everyone that the Almighty Lord is our Saviour and Creator. It is evident that Pope Francis does these kind things, even Mr Dwyer , a teacher from St Francis of Assisi School said " I have heard that Pope Francis has the gift of humility when he refused to live in his magnificent house and started living in a little cottage." Therefore, I consider Pope Francis as a strong leader for our catholic community and this is why he is a great leader. On the other hand, Nelson Mandela is an inspiring teacher to me. He has taught our world to fight against what we think is bad, and no matter whatever the consequence is, we shall fight for freedom. Nelson Mandela was extremely courageous and confident that he could conquer the terrible law of apartheid. "The brave man is he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." said Nelson Mandela. So, after all he had done, Nelson Mandela became President of Africa and this is why he is a great ,inspiring teacher. Martha Payne is like a shining ray of light in a cave full of darkness for the poor and the hungry. She is one of the world's most important healers ever known. Martha became famous because of her attitude towards the children at schools in Africa, that does not have enough food and are starving. She was so sorry for them that she started a blog and told the world about the suffering that is happening in Africa. " Martha Payne is a kind hearted girl, who would devote her life to anyone in need for food or money." said my friend Amish, a student from St Francis of Assisi School. Thus, I consider

Martha Payne as a caring, important healer because of her compassion towards the hungry children in Africa. Mahatma Gandhi was a legendary peacemaker of his time. Mahatma Gandhi was thirsty for peace to overcome civil rights. Gandhi wanted to bring peace between India and Britain, and achieved Independence of India from British Domination. Gandhi lead the Indian Army and demanded the British to immediately quit India. Gandhi soon made the British quit India. To me he has been a great role model because Gandhi believed he has nothing new to teach the world and peace and non-violence are as old as hills. So I consider Mahatma Gandhi as a legendary peacemaker because he believed what he thought was right and did all he can to accomplish his belief. As a final point, there are many fantastic and remarkable leaders in our world today and I consider I, Manuel Benny, is a leader too. I try to use my talents to help others, encourage others, and look after them. I want to be a simple role model for others so they could learn more from me. I can also make friends with my enemies and love them too. I can show the right path for everyone to walk through and lead them to a joyful life. "Manuel can be able to solve problems, he has the quality of patience, he is able to face challenges, and is approachable." commented my Mum. Therefore, I consider myself as a leader among others and I could lead them to a pleasant happy, life. Finally, In conclusion, there are many leaders, teachers, peacemakers and healers we are fond of. It is them that we should learn from to become a leader. When we embrace the Holy Spirit , we are also being changed into one of these role models, to change this modern day world into a world full of peace, harmony and forgiveness.
