Understanding Your New Timetable

This booklet contains helpful information about Level 1 (1st Year) courses. At your Advising appointment, you will select which courses to study. This booklet provides: Where and when the first lectures for each course are, How to sign up for tutorials, practicals, seminars, labs, language or oral classes, Where and when School information events are being held during Freshers Week, School contact details and location on campus. A map has been included to help you find your way around campus and a blank timetable template to record your new timetable. Student Portal Your timetable will be available on your Student Portal, normally 24 hours after you become a fully registered student. You become a fully registered student once you complete eRegistration and you have met with your Adviser of Studies to select your courses of study. (Check eRegistration is complete by ensuring all sections of the eRegistration shield are in colour). Your Student Portal shows lecture times and other classes for the courses you have selected. As well as attending lectures, you may need to attend tutorials, practicals, labs, language classes etc. As these classes are held in smaller groups of students than lectures, there will be a number of these at different times during the week. This means when you check your timetable on your Student Portal, you will see all of the timeslot options available. We have included instructions in this booklet to tell you how to sign up for these classes, so you can select which ones you attend. Second Half Session We have included information for the First Half Session, which runs from Monday, 24th September until the Christmas Break. We are confident by the time you reach the Second Half Session, you will know your way around campus and how to register for tutorials, practicals etc. If you have any queries about your timetable, please contact the appropriate School office. We welcome you to the University and wish you an enjoyable start to your studies with us.
