Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother and sister who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus answered, I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Matthew 18:21-22 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge my friends, but leave room for Gods wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:17-19 3) Replace your hurt with Gods peace. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 Conclusion: Who are the people that you need to apologize to or forgive? Why should I forgive if Ive already written that person off? 1) We forgive because we are commanded to do so. 2) Resentment doesnt work. You are harboring these feelings lying awake at night while the person you resent doesnt know or doesnt care and is doing just fine. Its really mostly punishing you. 3) Because Jesus Christ forgave us. Youll never have to forgive anybody any more than God has forgiven you. Its easy to forget God forgave us, so we need to be forgiving of others.
