Retail sector can be both organized and unorganized. The advertisements in both the sections vary with the degree of popularity of the stores. Here the study about organized retail is summarized. Location: Shivaji Nagar near Samrala Chowk , Jalandhar Byepass Organized Retail Stores in vicinity: Reliace Fresh Easy Day GG Mega Mart Vishal Mega Mart Big Bazaar ADVERTISEMENT PATTERN The advertisements of all the stores mentioned vary and the modes used are also different. The various modes used are: a. Pamphlets b. Announcements through loudspeakers c. Newspaper d. Advertisements in Magazine Taking each mode one by one and discussing each store then the following conclusions can be drawn. a. Pamphlets The pamphlets were the most common mode of advertisements by all the stores. The frequency of pamphlets being distributed was maximum in case of easy day and reliance fresh. Note: Easy Day has opened shortly after renovation so to increase the customers the advertisements are more frequent. Also the stores reliance fresh and Easy Day are located opposite to each other hence competition is there.So any day if reliance fresh distributes pamphlets in newspaper Easy Day follows and vice versa. Other stores like Vishal Mega Mart and Big Bazar use the pamphlets only in case of major sales promotion that they carry out during festival season.

b. Announcements through loudspeakers

The loudspeakers are used here in this locality as the labor class that is the migrants also stay here and all are not literate. Hence to reach each and every customer the retail outlets like Vishal Mega Mart and GG Mega Mart Carry out their promotional activity through the loudspeakers. c. Newspaper Newspapers are also used as mode of advertisements but are used usually by BIG BAZAR since it is a Hyper Market and is locate very far from this area. Also it belongs to Future Group that can afford to give advertisements in newspaper which is a costly affair for other small stores which have less of range and variety. Though Reliance Fresh and Easy Day also publicize through this mode but very seldom. The newspapers were used as a mode of advertisement but were used usually for the retail outlets that were big and the location was not very close from the colonies. The newspapers used are The Ludhiana Tribune Ludhiana Express Ludhiana Jagran d. Advertisements in Magazines This mode is also not practices much but is usually followed by Big Bazar and Vishal Mega Mart. The magazines used are usually the ones preferred by ladies like vanita etc. Summary: The advertisements of the various retail stores are given in different modes as per the target customer and segments. The stores like Reliance Fresh and Easy Day promote their stores by comparing MRP and the offered price. These rely on offers like buy one get one free or the psychological pricing is used. The other stores like Big Bazar and Vishal Mega Mart rely on the products they offer to the particular market segment also the use the offers like Sabse Saste Teen Din as promotional Schemes as offered by Big Bazar or the schemes like apparels sold for less than Rs 100 by vishal mega mart.
