Efficiency, function
and effect...
The lighting function and effect must be determined prior to selecting a fixture. Lighting forgeneral, accent and wai washing applications require unique light distribut on...control is the key for efticient, effective lighting. Each method is achieved with specific design objectives. Some of these are inherent within lamps used in fixtures. lvlore often, however, it is acombination of lamp type and the fixture that maximizes efficjency and creates the desired liqhting eifect. Halo fixtures are designed around specific lamps to achieve that efficiency.

A-lamps requ:re rellectors to ellective y controlor direct lightwhere you need it. Plus, theycan also be used in combination with lenses for general lighting.

How to choose the right Halo fixture for your

Effective April 1,1982, the National E ectrica Code (NEC), Section 410.65, states that all recessed ncandescent ljxtures shall have therma protection and sha I be denl Jied as such or be suiiab e for insta at on in direct contact w th insu alion and be ldentified as such.

Halo provides lighting lixtures that are UL listed in accordance with the lull requirements of UL1571 to meet the latest NEC requirements.r So you can specilyjust as muchtixture as you need-and no more than you need lor maximum salety, economy and ease ol installation.

Halo commitment to maximum performance and safety...

During the past five years the lncandescent lighting industry has seen a significant change in thermaland eleclrjcal testing requirements. This s the result of potential hazards associated with the misuse of insulatlon. Changes to the National Electric Code and in Underwriters' Laboratories testing procedures have necessitated addiUonal testing procedures. This testing is required for every trim and housing combination available in the product ne.

Halo resolved that the most effective long term solution tor both misuse of nsulation and over-lamping problems was the use of integral thermal protection. The development of an lntegra Thermal Protection Systern for each Halo product is an extensive procedure. Dtverse product designs require varying thermal protectorvalues that must be properly localed on each housing. These extensive lests are performed
on ourpremises in oneofthe most advanced e ectrical and thermaltesting

laboratories in the country.

The Halo test laboratory is a 4,000 square foot facllity that s staffed with experienced engineers and technicians. The ab is equipped with controlled environmental conditions and state oflhe art instrumentsto conduct research on temperature and its effect on .nalerial degradation. All Halo prooucls are tested to meet or surpass required standards and codes. Halo is proud
10

ln addition to thermaltesting, Halo also analyzes lighting fixtures for performance and efficiency using a sophjsticated inhouse photometric laboratory. Custom designed computer programs and state-

of-the-art equ jpment allow precise evaluation of proposed lighting installatrons.
