Guidelines
All the information mentioned in the resume shall be sole responsibility of the student; The student will have to bear repercussions of misrepresentation of any data on the resume, as per the rules. The student can approach the placement coordinators if they face any issues while preparing their resumes. But in case of any issue which requires further discussion, the decision will be taken by the placement office which shall be considered final and binding. All the information mentioned by the student in the CV should be backed by hard copies of necessary documents. Any non-adherence will disqualify the student from mentioning that detail in his/her CV. The students enrolled in the core program as well the focus programs like- banking, capital markets and HR will have to necessarily follow this format while preparing their resumes.

General Guidelines

The CV should not exceed one page including header and footer. This is because the resumes are a tool to carry out the first round of shortlisting or to have a quick glance over the profiles of the students. It is a tool for recruitment and not selection. Extra section headers cannot be added in the CV. Whatever information the candidate wants to put has to be in the sections mentioned in the sample format. Italics or any other text formatting styles are not permitted to be used in the CV. Mention all points in bullets as illustrated. No sub-bullets are allowed. If a company brings its own specific format for preparing the resumes then the students will be expected to follow the same and any non-adherence will lead to disqualification for that company. Formatting guidelines: The header and footer used should be as per the sample CV format provided by the Placement Committee.

Header & footer

The name of the student should be written in capital letters. The font size should remain uniform throughout i.e. - size 10, Times New Roman. The name of the student will appear in font size is 14 (bold). Course name and University name in font size 11 (bold), Times New Roman.

Content related guidelines: The candidate should provide his/her primary contact number in the header. Email id mentioned in the header should be the NMIMS id. The student should mention his/her age updated as on the date of submission of the final draft of the document as on 20th September, 2013. The students enrolled in focus programs have to clearly mention the full name of their program in the header. For e.g. - MBA CAPITAL MARKETS, MBA BANKING or MBA HR. For MBA core, simply write MBA. Formatting guidelines: The student should write the name of the company in which he/she underwent summer internship in Capital Letters at the right-most end of the header. For e.g. PERFETTI VAN MELLE. Student can highlight key words in the description of the project by making them bold. Do not exceed more than 4 points to explain the summer project. Content related guidelines: Mention 2-4 highlights of the Summer Internship Project. Any PPI/PPO, Award received during the internship should be mentioned under the header Achievements and not here. This section is purely meant to describe the highlights of the Summer internship project and hence focus should be on the end result of the work done and the importance of the project to the company. Formatting guidelines: The student should write the name of the company/NGO in which he/she underwent We Care internship in Capital Letters at the right-most end of the header. For e.g. AMBUJA CEMENT FOUNDATION Student can highlight the key words in the description of the project by making them bold. Do not exceed more than 4 points to explain the We Care project. Content related guidelines: Mention 2-4 highlights of the We Care Internship Project. Formatting guidelines: This section can be completely removed for students without any work experience prior to MBA. Under the section of work experience, the student should mention his/her designation (latest), name of the organization, the period of service in the given order only. The duration of the service should also be mentioned in the brackets after the period. In case the student has multiple work-experiences, separate bullet points covering the details should be mentioned. The total number of number of months as per the workexperience should be written (totaled completed months for each organization). Eg: Organization 1: 3 months 20 days, Organization 2: 11 months 10 days; Total work experience months: 14 months

Content related guidelines: The student will be allowed to mention only that work experience in the resume, for which he has all the necessary documents in place to support the same. The candidate has to mention the completed number of months in the organization. For e.g.: 3 months 29 days will be considered as 3 months. Only when the student completes full calendar month (30/31 days), will he be allowed to add the same. This rule has to be followed uniformly for all organizations mentioned. All the information relating to experience on job should be mentioned under the sub header of company name for which the candidate has worked for. In case of employee leasing wherein the student was under the payroll of one company (say- Ma Foi) but was working for another company (say- Yahoo) as an independent consultant/leased out employee. Here, the student will mention that company in the CV which has been written on the Experience Letter. The students with this background will be required to intimate the same to placement office well in advance. This is because the treatment of the same will be decided by Director, Placements. For the students who have worked in the following areas: 1. 2. 3. 4. Contract basis job/projects (for e.g. - merchant navy etc.) Assignment basis job/projects (for e.g. - freelance journalist etc.) Family business experience Own start-ups/entrepreneurship projects

The students with this background will be required to intimate the same to placement office well in advance. This is because the treatment of the same will be decided by the Placement office. Formatting guidelines: All percentages and CGPAs mentioned in the CV should be mentioned in 2 decimals. All have to be truncated and not rounded The student will have to necessarily write class Xth and class XIIth, even if his/her certificate mentions HSC or SSC , to maintain uniformity. The student will have to put a percentage (%) sign wherever his/her marks are in percentage, for e.g.- 72.45%. In case of CGPA/GPA, the student will have to mention the total score out of which CGPA is obtained, for e.g.- 7.82/10. Percentages/CGPA should not be rounded off under any circumstances - truncate when in doubt Content related guidelines: For the students who have substantial gap in their education will have to inform the placement office well in advance. For graduation and post-graduation, the students will be provided with a list of degrees in the standard format to choose from in order to maintain uniformity across batch.

Content related guidelines: This block can be removed completely in case of no certifications All certifications (e.g. CFA) that the student has successfully completed (and not just appeared for) should be mentioned under this header.

Certifications

The students pursuing CA can add details about their article ship under this header. The student will not be allowed to create a separate header for the same. The student will be allowed to mention only those certifications which he/she has successfully completed and is backed by necessary proof. The student cannot mention those certifications for which he/she has appeared or willing be appearing in the future. Content related guidelines:

Key Electives in MBA

A minimum of 10 and maximum of 12 subjects (full or half credit) from the 2nd year only can be mentioned here. For Focus Programs, 10 to 12 Key Courses of the 2nd year should be mentioned under this header. Content related guidelines: Students can mention any academic/work experience related achievements under this header. Also, achievements from their summer internship stints can be mentioned. All achievements should be backed by necessary proofs. Content related guidelines:

Achievements

Exchange Program Students can mention any student exchange program opted for prior to MBA or during
MBA. This block is optional. Formatting guidelines: The format followed while writing the project is: Company Name (In bold): Description about the project. Nothing except the company name can be in bold. Content related guidelines: All the projects done during MBA should be verified by IIPC irrespective of whether the project is introduced by IIPC or done through personal contact. Any corporate project/Internship done before MBA, i.e. during graduation, should be backed by necessary proof. The Placement Committee shall verify such projects during the CV Verification round. If any student has done any project under any cell, for e.g. Disguised Marketing project for NJM, even such projects need to be verified by IIPC. Only fully completed projects will be allowed in the CV. If any student has not done any corporate project, he/she can remove this header from their CV. Formatting guidelines:

Key Projects (Academic)

The format to be followed while writing any academic project involving any company is: Company Name (In bold): Description about the project. For e.g. A CAR project involving Maggi Noodles can be written as: Maggi: Conducted a market research to gain consumer insights about Maggi Noodles in the Mumbai area.

The format to be followed while writing about the graduation project (Final Year Project) is: College Name: Description about the project. For e.g. NIT, Surat: Designed a Bandswitchable RF Synthesizer for GSM 900 and 1800 MHz Frequencies. If the project is carried out on general industry for e.g. Financial analysis carried out on FMCG Sector can be written as: FMCG: Financial Calculations of the Beta of FMCG Sector and analyzed the reasons for variation. No other word apart from the company/Graduation college name can be in bold. Content related guidelines: Write about the key Academic projects worked on in NMIMS that add value to your CV. Marketing Students can focus on including marketing projects from key subjects such as B2B Marketing, Sales Management, Pricing, etc. Similarly Finance students can focus on key finance subjects. Content related guidelines: Only published Technical/Research papers backed by necessary proof will be allowed under this header. Articles published under MBASkool or other competitions are NOT Papers, So please do not mention such articles under this header. Use Extra-curricular section for such articles. Content related guidelines: This block is optional. Students can mention any position held during school/college. Students should have worked in that capacity for the entire year and not for the duration of an event or a festival Do not mention any Position of Responsibility held during Work experience, for e.g. Team Lead etc. under this header. This block is optional. Any non-academic achievements or contests won will be verified by the Placement Committee. All such achievements must be backed by necessary intimations/proofs (hard copies) by concerned authorities. Content related guidelines: This block is optional. Any social work experience other than We Care internship can be mentioned. Necessary proofs for the same need to be submitted. Content related guidelines: This block is optional. Under the section, all kinds of participations and memberships in school, college, post- graduation levels relating to sports, case studies, debating, acting, and competitions etc. can be added. Students can also write about their interests and hobbies under this header. Content related guidelines: This block is optional. Students can mention any hobbies or interests that they feel could add value to the resume and their candidature
