The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) is established to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes, to develop scholarship and a sense of responsibility towards society and to promote legal and judicial reforms to strengthen the administration of justice in India. THE ORGANISERS The Centre for Law and Development is an institution that identifies for itself a role in recognition and prioritisation of areas of and for development, contribution to policy formulation by the State, research into various aspects of development, including rights of affected members of general public from socio-legal, economic and other relevant perspectives. It would also like to act as a watchdog with public participation into corruption and transparency in governance issues. Discussion of relevant bills in the State legislatures and Parliament would be facilitated and its conclusions submitted for their consideration. BIL is a premier facility in financial and capital market training which is popular not only amongst the whole range of institutions in the Indian Securities Market but also market participants like Government, external agencies, financial institutions and corporates.

CALL FOR PAPERS


Representatives from corporate entities, institutes like CA/CS, regulatory bodies, government officials, members of the public, academicians, lawyers, NGOs, researchers, students and others interested in the subject are invited to present papers on the themes mentioned in the breakup of the seminar. An abstract not exceeding 150 words shall be submitted. The abstract with details and the full paper may kindly be posted or e-mailed.

THE TOPIC
The topic identified for the seminar is on Company Law. The current law on companies is in the process of restructuring and requires a revisit by all concerned.

The Companies Bill 2011 was passed by Lok Sabha on 18th December 2012 and the Government has initiated the process of drafting the rules under the proposed Act. The Bill is divided into 29 chapters, 470 sections and 7 schedules. The new law is intended to bring fundamental changes to company law. It is also expected that this would bring about simplification, transparency and effectiveness to various areas of company law. A Two day National Seminar, with national and regional participants intends contribute to the understanding of the said laws.
