The new modules for the London MLE 92 will be released as they are ready over the summer break and
throughout the Autumn term. The focus has been on enhancing existing features. In addition the
London MLE has added functionality regarding Start of Year procedures. This will provide users with a
new set of options on how to carry out the transition.
There is a simplified Start of Year process to support transitions between school years. At the start
of a new year, teachers will have the option to fetch all content from existing rooms, based on the
room copy functionality. Owners can archive old rooms to ensure that members will continue to
have access to all their previous work. A comprehensive e‐course featuring relevant tutorial videos
will be simultaneously available.
The new Room Copy Functionality will allow users to
use existing rooms as templates for new rooms
being created. Rooms may also be exported as zip
files, making it possible to share and reuse content
both internally and across Fronter installations.
Absence Module Release scheduled at 13‐08‐09
The Attendance Lite module has now been discontinued. Instead London schools will inherit the
new Absence module to replace it. In addition to general improvements regarding performance,
new interfaces and new reports are available. Lessons in the absence module are also integrated
with the resource booking tool. This module may prove to be particularly useful with the 14‐19
agenda.
The new Goal Module replaces the existing learning goal functionality. Administrators can import a
national goal structure or create their own self‐defined goals. The new module includes matrices
and visualisations, making it possible to track progress in multiple ways. Within a room, the Goal
Module can make use of general goals e.g. a nationally defined goal structure, or custom goals
defined by the user. Students can access an overview of all goals assigned to them, with their
evaluation and have the opportunity to feedback on their personal progress.
The Open API, enables 3rd Party applications to integrate with Fronter. Users can access the
external application from a Fronter room, create or edit work, and save. The Open API can be used
by external applications, which themselves will be made available in Fronter as PlusPacks.
The first edition of the new page tool will be included in London MLE 92 during Autumn term. It
will include features like WYSIWYG edit, 'drag and drop' and the option to embed different types
of elements. This new page tool will be made available alongside the existing editor.
