The Legislature also authorized DOC to contract with local jurisdictions for jail beds. For up to 300 medium or lower security beds statewide to the extent that it is at no net cost to DOC. The contract daily rate shall not exceed $65 per offender including program and health care costs. DOC has issued a competitive solicitation and is in the process of reviewing the submittals. For short-term offenders (offenders with an earned release date of less than 120 days on his or her sentence at the time the offender would otherwise be transferred to DOC). The daily contract rate shall not exceed $70 per offender including medical costs. DOC is working on master contract language.
