Regional/National Highlights
Professional Development Day (PDD) 2013 PDD was held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 with 54 members and guests in attendance. The attendance was slightly lower than in past years and the 2014 committee will evaluate what we can do next year to improve attendance. Citrus Valley Chapter is the coordinator and I want to hear your feedback on what you think we should do differently. Please send me an email with your comments; or call me for a chat. We will need member participation in the planning and coordination efforts for this event to make it successful. This would be a great initial committee assignment to get your feet wet in leadership. A wrap-up / initiation meeting is scheduled for 9:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the proposed venue for next year, Diamond Bar Golf Course, 22751 Golden Springs Drive, Diamond Bar. Please join us to review the facility and show your support. This will also be our next board meeting. There were some fabulous exhibitors that participated including Pinkberry, Poppin, Shiptropolis, Premiere Jewelry, Parklane Jewelry, Cookie Lee Jewelry, Best Chauffered Limousine Service and more. Our generous door prize donations yielded something for everyone. It is always rewarding when you can be involved in an event where no one walks away empty-handed. California Division Annual Meeting The event has returned to a three-day format June 6-8, 2013 and will be held in Sacramento, California. The stimulus program for this event will open January 2014; we will keep you updated as details unfold. The program is entering its sixth year and begins with the signing of a commitment form. You do not need to sign the 2013-14 commitment form if you previously signed the old form that was on the HQ website. If youd like to sign the current form, go ahead. You will only need to submit it if you are chosen for an audit. Nominations for 2014-15 Chapter Board

Its never too early to start looking at nominations for next years board. If this is an area that you would like to participate in please let me know. I would like to encourage at least one past leader to work with me in identifying candidates for future board positions and will reach out to you as well. If youd like to be considered for leadership or have questions regarding what this involves let me know and we can discuss it. IAAP is a place where you can safely step into leadership at a number of different levels. New Marketing Materials New marketing materials have been ordered to help promote the chapter. Rack cards with our meeting dates and more. They will be available for your review and use in helping us to promote the chapter at the next meeting. Our new brochure now has a QR code that when scanned with a smart phone will take you directly to the chapters website. We also have a rack card and elevator speech cards to help you share what an administrative professional is. I am very excited to share these with you the members. New Venue Update More Information I have heard back from our proposed venue, San Dimas Community Hospital, and they are excited to be able to work with us to provide space that will allow us to grow. A small hiccup has occurred and I am seeking member feedback as it would require multiple changes. The hospital cannot accommodate the first Tuesday of each month, but can accommodate the first Monday of each month beginning in December. We will have a ballot at our meeting on November 12th, though I would welcome feedback now from the members so I know whether we should move forward with planning our holiday meeting at this venue. If we decide to change our meeting date and relocate to a new venue we can easily update our new marketing materials so please do not let that be your only deciding factor. Holiday Party I was hoping to reformat our holiday dinner as a combination new membership drive/holiday event (which will help us to meet the chapter of excellence criteria for this). Rather than a sit down dinner I was considering limiting it to appetizers and adult beverages (beverage issue under review). We have a potential sponsor that is willing to help us offset the cost of the event; with a partial sponsor, the chapter has sufficient funds to offer a format such as this at no cost to everyone. Rather than exchange gifts with one another we will collect donations for a worthy organization that is still to be determined. More details to follow as they unfold.
