Point System

Any time a driver is caught doing something illegal

while driving, penalty points will be given based on the violation. After a certain number of points, that individual risks having their license suspended.

Point Violations
6 point violations:

Homicide by vehicle Operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs Failure to stop and disclose identity at the scene of a collision Willingly fleeing or eluding a police officer Racing Operating a vehicle without the consent of the owner Using a vehicle in the commission of a felony

4 point violations:
Willful disregard of the safety of persons or property

2 point violations:
All moving violations and some speed offenses Operating a vehicle in violation of a restriction imposed by the BMV

Speeding Violations
Speeding is driving above the posted speed limit. Driving above the speed limit can result in getting pulled over, having to pay a ticket, receive points on your license, and even lose your license.

Question
True or False:

Any time you are given a speeding ticket, you will get
points on your license.

FALSE. If you are cited for driving 1-5 miles per hour
over the limit, there are no points awarded.

Penalties

send you a warning that if you have 12 + points, your license will be suspended. Suspended License : 6 Months Insurance Remedial driving course Reinstatement fee of $40 Retake the driver exam
