Teachers Guide to Science PEKA PMR

Science Practical Work Assessment (PEKA, Pentaksiran Kerja Amali) is a school-based assessment developed by the Ministry of Education to assess students achievement in practical science, implemented as part of the teaching and learning process. A separate certificate stating the students grades for the schoolbased assessment is issued to each student together with the PMR certificate.

Objectives of Science PEKA PMR

Science PEKA PMR is conducted to enable students to: master scientific skills strengthen scientific theories and concepts inculcate scientific attitudes and noble values

The Framework of Science PEKA PMR

Learning Areas The learning areas comprise three main elements: Element 1: Science Process Skills Element 2: Experimenting and Manipulative Skills Element 3: Scientific Attitudes and Noble Values Construct, Criteria and Scoring Scheme Element 1 and Element 2 contain a list of criteria of the skills, which are expected to be mastered by the students, as performance indicators. Element 3 contains a list of criteria of Scientific Attitudes and Noble Values as performance indicators which can be observed by the teacher who acts as the assessor.
