Rules & Regulations for Placements (Final & Summer Placements) Rules for Summer Training

1. For the First Year students: If he/she has taken up a summer training project from campus, he/she will not be allowed to withdraw from that for another off-campus offer that he/she may have secured at a later stage. Any such violation of the rule will result in barring him/her from the Final Placement Processes. So, if he/she has an off-campus offer which he /she would rather pursue, please DO NOT appear for the interviews by the companies visiting the campus. 2. Students having 90 % attendance will be given preference for live projects received from the
corporate on rotational basis or first come, first serve basis. If no student turns up for live projects then Corporate Resource Cell will decide whom to send for the project and the decision of Corporate Resource Cell will be binding.

3. It is absolutely necessary for the student to conduct himself/herself professionally during their tenure with the organization as a summer intern. 4. In case the institute receives any complaint from the organizations regarding the conduct or indiscipline of the student strict action will be taken on that student. 5. The student needs to remember that his/her conduct & performance can mar or enhance the institutes image thereby affecting the final placement. 6. The student has to remember that the summer training is only for a period of 50 days. Normally no extension in the tenure of the summer training is allowed as the student is required to attend the classes from the scheduled date of the commencement of the 3 rd semester. 7. The permission to extend the period of summer training in very special cases is only the prerogative of the chief co-ordinator and the placement head.

Rules for Registration (Summer & Final Placements)


1 Every Summer Internship/Final Placement opportunities will be posted on yahoo groups mentioning all the relevant details like companies name, job description, specialization required, location, pre-requisites and stipend/Package if any. The mail will also mention the last date and time for registration. Corporate Resource Cell will not be liable if the message is not read by the students. 2 Interested student who then opt for appearing for the selection process for Summer Internship/Final Placement offered by these organizations will have to personally come to the placement cell and register their name on the registration sheet. 3 The selection process of these organizations along with the schedule, venue and other details will be intimated to the students via yahoo groups. 4 Once the student has registered it becomes binding on him to appear for the PPT (Pre Placement Talk) wherein the company presents all the details to the student pertaining to job description, specialization required, location, pre-requisite skills, stipend/Package offered, selection process . Failure to attend the PPT after registration will lead to disqualified from placements. It is therefore necessary for the students to think twice before registering for a particular company.

Rules for the Selection Process (Final & Summer Placements)

College uniform is mandatory during the selection process whether in campus or outside. The candidate has to carry the resume which is in the college standard format and which has a formal photo in college uniform affixed to it. Attendance will be taken before the initiation of the selection process. After the PPT the student may decide to appear or opt out of the placement process of the organization. Once he decides to attend the selection process the student will have to go through the entire cycle of the selection process until he/she is either eliminated or selected by the organization for Summer Training /Final Placement. Students who give their consent after PPT to appear for the selection process and fail to do so will be debarred from the Summer Placement/Final Placements activities. In case the student who has agreed to appear for the selection process refrains from attending the process till selected/rejected OR Refrains from joining once selected by a company and the offer accepted by the students, he/she will not be considered for any other interview. The student has to join the organization at the location and on the date as decided by the organization. Failing to join the organization after been selected will lead to disqualification from future placement activities and imposition of financial penalty or may lead to any disciplinary action that CCR deems fit. Once the student resume is forwarded in the company of his/her choice it is mandatory to appear for interview. It may happen at times that the student may be required to go to other campus for the placement process. The same process as mentioned above will be adopted. It may also happen that at times the student will be required to go to the companys office for the interviews. The placement cell will provide all the details to the best of its ability. In such cases where a PPT may not be held it is the duty of the students to clarify during the course of the interview any doubts he may have regarding the nature of job, pay package or location before accepting the job. Once the job is accepted by the student, it is binding on him to join the organization. Students are not authorized to communicate with the companies at an individual level. They are hereby advised to refrain from such communication whatsoever. Any deviation would result in disciplinary action against the concerned student(s) who are involved in such activity. Any corporate interaction by any student must be carried out in consultation with the Head- CRC and its Team.

GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER TRAINING PROJECT:As a part of curriculum you are required to undergo a Summer Training for 50 working days in an industrial commercial organization commencing from May i.e. after the end of University examinations . The objective of this project work is to familiarize the students with the practical aspects of business organization and for shaping them as competent managers for tomorrow. All the above mentioned or any such other topics must be research based and should be fixed in consultation with the organization or the concerned faculty guides before starting the work. The students will have to adopt a Research Design, collect the data relevant to their topic or problem, analyze the same with statistical tools, make intelligent observations and offer practical suggestions.

General Instructions:The Summer Training Project provides an excellent opportunity to all the students to have a firsthand experience and exposure about the working of an Organization. They thus get to know the actual applications of all theoretical concepts in real life situations. Therefore, all students should avail this opportunity to complete the summer training diligently and sincerely and without any irregularity. The following instructions should be adopted while pursuing the summer training. 1. Complete the summer training work sincerely and without any irregularity. 2. Send the fortnightly progress reports regularly, duly signed by the corporate mentor (within seven days from the date of joining the organization) to the CRC. There are marks assigned for each report@5 marks (A Total of 20 marks are reserved for the fortnightly reports). 3. Join the organization as early as possible and see that you are spend a minimum of 50 working days in the organization.

4. Study the entire organization carefully with special emphasis on the topic selected assigned. 5. Collect all the data required to complete the project. (Original filled in survey Questionnaires should be available with the students at all times. In case they submit/deposit these questionnaires to their respective organizations, they must obtain a written statement on their Certificate indicating how many such questionnaires were deposited. Failure to follow this procedure can lead to cancellation of the project). 6. Do maximum reading of Journals, Periodicals etc, to improve your understanding of the subject. 7. When two or more students are placed in the same organization, see to it that there is no duplication of work. This can be done by taking up different project titles in the same area or different functional areas like Marketing, Personnel and Finance etc. 8. While pursuing their summer training, all students should present themselves in the proper dress code. No student should go to their organization in casual wear like T-shirts, Jeans etc. Also, you should keep your Identity Cards along with you throughout the tenure of the project work.. 9. Discuss the progress of your project work with your Corporate Mentor as well as youre your faculty guide and write the minutes of the discussion. All students are required to submit their Project Report strictly in the prescribed University format as per the Samples attached herewith. Any Deviation from this list will not be accepted. The final draft of the project will be prepared under the guidance of the Faculty Guides assigned to the students. Students should take care that all information relating to study is made available while finalizing the report. In case of any difficulty, students are advised to contact concerned faculty guide through e mail or phone. The students should report for regular classes for the new academic session 2012-13 with effect from ... Chapter 1: Introduction
The purpose of introduction is to introduce the research project to the readers. It should contain history of the organization, past and current practices, new technology and future strategies. Enough background should be given to make clear to the readers why the problem was considered worth investigating. A brief summary of other relevant research may also be stated so that the present study can be seen in that context. The hypotheses of study, if any, and the definitions of the major concepts employed in the study should be explicitly stated in the introduction of the report. REPORT FORMAT
Paper Quality

The Project shall be printed on white bond paper, whiteness 95% or above, weight 70gsm or more per square meter. Size The size of the paper should be standard A 4; height 297mm, width 210mm. Typesetting, Text Processing and Printing The text should be printed employing LaserJet or Inkjet printer, the text has to be processed using a standard text processor. The standard font should be in Times New Roman of 12 pts with 1.5-line spacing. Page Format The printed sheets shall have the following writing area and margins: Top margin Head height Head separation Bottom margin Footer Foot separation Text height Text width 15 mm 3 mm 12 mm 22 mm 3 mm 10 mm 245 mm 160 mm

When header is not used the top margin should be of 30mm.

Left and Right margins The candidates shall have the options of single or double-sided printing. * Single sided/Odd number page (in double sided printing) Left margin 30 mm Right margin 20 mm

Numbering Page numbering in the text of the Projects shall be Hindu-Arabic numerals at the center of the footer. But the candidates opts for header style the page number should appear at the right and left top corner for the odd and even number pages, respectively. The subsequent chapters should begin on a fresh page. When header style is chosen the first page of each chapter should not have the header and the page number has to be printed at the center of the footer. Pagination for pages before the Introduction chapter shall be in lower case Roman numerals, e.g; iv.

Header When the header style is chosen, the header can have the Chapter number and Section Number (e.g., Chapter 2, Section 3 on even number pages headers and Chapter title or Section title on the odd number page header. Paragraph format Vertical space between paragraphs should be of about 2.5 line spacing. The first line of each paragraph should normally be intended by five characters or 12 mm. A candidate may, however, choose not to indent if(s) he has provided sufficient paragraphs separation. A paragraph should normally comprise more than one line. A single line of a paragraph should not be left at the top or bottom of a page (that is, no windows or orphans should be left). The word at the right end of the first line of a page or paragraph should, as far as possible, not be hyphenated. Chapter and Section format Each chapter should begin on a fresh page (odd number page in case of double sided printing) with an additional top margin of about 75 mm. Chapter number (in Hindu-Arabic) and title should be printed at the center of the line in 6 mm font size (18 pt) in bold face using both upper and lower case (all capitals or small capitals should not be used). A vertical gap of about 25mm should be left between the Chapter # and chapter title lines and between chapter title line and the first paragraph. Sections and sub sections A chapter can be divided into Sections, Sub-sections and Sub-Sub-sections so as to present different concepts separately. Sections and sub-sections can be numbered using decimal points, e.g., 2.2 for the second Section in Chapter 2 and 2.3.4 for the fourth Sub-section in third section of Chapter 2. Chapters, Sections and Sub-Sections should be included in the contents with page numbers flushed to the right. Further subsections need not be numbered or included in the contents. The Sections and Sub-sections titles along with their numbers in 5 and 4 mm (16 mm and 14 pt) fonts, respectively, in bold face should be flushed to the left (not centered) with 15 mm space above and below these lines. In further subdivisions character size of 3 and 3.5 with bold face, small caps, all caps and italics may be sued for the titles flushed left or centered. These should not feature in the contents. Table/Figure Format

As far as possible tables and figures should be presented in portrait style. Small size table and figures (less than half of writing area of a page) should be incorporated within the text, while larger ones may be presented in separate pages. Table and figures should be numbered chapter wise. For example, the fourth figure in Chapter 5 should bear the number figure 5.4 or Fig.5.4. Table number and title should be placed above the table while the figure number and caption should be located below the figure. Reference for Table and Figures reproduced from elsewhere should be cited in the last and separate line in the table and figure caption, e.g. (after McGregor [12]).

AUXILIARY FORMAT
Binding The project should be cover bound in leather or rexin with the following colour specification: Black Front Covers The front cover should contain the following details: * Full title of Project in 6 mm 22 points size font properly centered and positioned at the top. * Full name of the candidate in 4.5 mm 15 points size font properly centered at the middle of the page. * A 40 mm dia replica of the Institute emblem followed by the name of the Department, name of the Institute and the year of submission, each in separate line and properly centered and located at the bottom of the page. Lettering All lettering should be embossed in gold. Bound back The degree, the name of the candidate and the year of submission should also be embossed on the bound (side) in gold. Blank sheets In addition to the white sheets (binding requirement) two white should be put at the beginning and end of the Project. Title sheet This has to be the first printed page of the Project and should contain the submission statement: the Project submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements of Summer Training, the name and Roll No. of the candidate, name (s) of the supervisor and co-supervisor (s) (if any), Department, Institute and year of submission (sample enclosed). List of Figures and Tables

Two separate lists of Figure caption and Table titles along with their numbers and corresponding page numbers against them shall follow the Contents. Abbreviation Notations and Nomenclature A complete and comprehensive list of all abbreviations, notations and nomenclature including Greek alphabets with subscripts and superscripts shall be provided after th e list of tables figures. (As far as possible generally accepted symbols and notation should be used.) Auxiliary page from dedications (if any) to abbreviations shall be numbered using Roman numerical in lower case, while the next starting from the Introduction shall be in Hindu-Arabic. (The first pages in both the cases shall not bear a page number).
