A Study of Class Room Stress against the Building Happiness of a Student of GCBS.
Dechen Denkar, Gaeddu College of Business studies dechen_denkar@yahoo.com Abstract Stress can be caused by external circumstances or perceptions and attitudes. Stress is a way towards ones next desired room but one should just be likely for such condition that may occur any time. Although it arise from the disturbed mind, out of too much concentration on problem, Challenges and expectations that would lead a person out of relax state of mind that may affect a person from getting happiness. Stress leads to violence, suicide, and lots more related disease which may even lead to serious conditions. This paper carried out a study about how perceptions and attitudes of the happiness of a student of GCBS in the class contributed towards building happiness against stress in the context of GNH. This paper contains four sections. The first section of introductory nature and the concept of GNH. The second section deals about the stress against the happiness in the class room. The third section deals about the adaptability of happiness of students of GCBS inside the class room. The final section gives the conclusions and conclusions. Key words: Stress, GNH, GCBS, Class room, Happiness Section one According to His holiness the Dalai Lama, If we have a good heart, a warm heart , warm feelings , we will be happy and satisfied ourselves , and our friends will experience a friendly and peaceful atmosphere as well. This can be experience from nation to Nation, country to country, continent to continent. Based on the good heart and warm feeling let me share my experience and that remain printed all the time in my mind, A poor little waif repeatedly nagging me asker for a little amount gets happy when he got something more than what he have actually asked for, I could see him wearing a big smile far distance till he goes out of my sights. we are as different as night from day yet we so exist like dusk and dawn, So accordingly not all individuals are equally happy, the happiness within oneself differs from individuals .Each and every one of us will definitely percept GNH on their own understanding, happiness for one self is the quest for perfection and it is the attempt to glorious pleasurable aspects of life. When you are happy you feel as if you are on the top of International Journal of Business Intelligents (IJBI) www.ijbui.com the seven skies but when you are unhappy you feel in the pits. The cause of happiness for a monk and for a common ordinary people cant be same .A monk becomes happy to see a lamp grazing in the field, But an ordinary person gets happiness out of the taste of some mouthwatering preparation of lamp. Section Two As individuals juggle to do so many things, they easily become stressed. Research has documented a series of stress related impacts on the health of workers. Workers in highstrain jobs have been shown to have a higher variety of disease than their fellow workers who are not or are less stressed. Cardiovascular disease, gastro-intestinal disorders, musculoskeletal problems, and the immune system are all affected by stress. Behavioral problems such as poor relations with colleagues, absenteeism, and loss of selfconfidence and self-esteem are often caused by stress. All these consequences affect both the actual as well as the perceived well-being of individuals. Stress affects everyone. Today's research suggests that stress can block chemical 146

Stress can disrupt learning and memory development as it forces the brain to revert to more primitive survival needs. To foster creativity and learning, educators should learn how to minimize stressful situations. The challenge is to introduce new ways or instructional strategies to reduce levels of the stress hormone (cortisol) and increase levels of the `happy' hormone (DHEA). Stress is a self-perceived phenomena. A situation or environment that seems stressful to one person is an unnoticed annoyance to someone else. A certain amount of stress can be very useful and, when its not excessive, it can enhance performance. People who are "challenged" to meet high expectations often meet them. Thus, "low balling" learners to make things easy or stress free isn't productive. If you push more into the heart it will end up pumping out more at least to a point, and then it progressively goes into failure. The point at which the heart will begin to go into failure is variable from one individual to another. The people who already have disabilities to coping to a new life situation can be pushed into "learning failure" more easily. Section Three The adaptability of the environment of Gaeddu College against stress in building Happiness. The learning environment should not be purposely stressful. Further, students should be given encouragement and their confidence boosted with positive affirmations about their ability to succeed. This can be targeted using the concept of GNH. According to GNH, the class would constitute the following means: Free from fear Free to raise voice Free to answer Free to make mistake, but not always the same one Learning free from everything Ultimately Free to get at top.

The happiness is gained by women out of the priority, preference as well from the encouragement not only from society but its a practice within our college. The courage, boldness and the strong heart that one posses and the freedom gained to defeat the fear is what I mean by free from fear. For me, fear is lack of confidence while executing a task, preparing presentation and assignments, for exam are the several cause of fear. freedom of speech, when given an opportunity to speak out the problem and to answer, the stress arises but when I answer to a question, the answer need not necessarily be correct I feel content for the opportunity I got to express my view. While free to make mistake, I feel happy when I see happiness in my teachers and friends for the reason I go wrong and creating it a happy class. Learning free from everything, therefore, when I am free from above mentioned element I enjoy happiness through learning, moving a step forward and ultimately reaching out to my goal. Stress is the erosion of happiness. Hence, the environment in which one directly or indirectly related are the sources of stress. I consider my class as my house. So it is necessary for the house to be happy if one wants less stress. To list few factors in the class who plays crucial role are management, lecturers, friends and myself. Management of the college headed by the director who is assisted by two Deans and constitute all the lecturers and non teaching staffs. The rules and policies framed by the management are sometime the sources of stress. However, management with good governance can mitigate the stress level, management should and must need to know the interest of students and thus must frame such policies and rules which could be both sided benefited. One of the major parts also include lecturers, the main purposes is because we deal with them more than we deal with the management. Stress related with lecturer and also related with the academic can be mitigated but if only lecturers are capable of. Major source of stress is when one is not able to grasp the content of 147

Indo-Bhutan International Conference On Gross National Happiness Pages: 146-148 the subject. Lecturer may create a good learning environment and also must not be biased. Lecturers must be capable of good communications for communication plays an important role to making students understand. Therefore good personalities, humble characteristics, good communication, good lecturer and good human being and treat student like his friend is what I call the traits of good lecturer. While on the other hand the friends are the two bodies in one soul. Different people have different thinking. Common characteristic between friends is that the feelings are somewhat similar. This is the binding factor of relationship, but if this factor is disturbed, the relationship weakens and arises related problem and corresponding stress. A friend should be responsible, reasonable (understandable) and respectable what I call as there is a friendship. A friend can reduce the stress because we tend to share our problems and that pressure of problem tends to reduce when shared to someone else. Section four conclusion and suggestions 1. If the management can bring good policies and programme as academic modules it can eliminate the stress created in the class from the students. A motivated management always act like the forth pillar of GNH concept. That is a good management always responsible for good governance in maintaining the sustainable development of a student. 2. When a good teacher and good teaching in a good learning environment and create a benchmark for all lecturers to see and to aspire towards achieving some kind of standard thus creating a sustainable teaching. This creates a sustainable and equitable development among all the students both academically and economically. Hence teachers play the role of the first pillar of GNH concept. 3. Friends in the class room and outside the class room are always responsible for maintaining a good environment for each other so one helps the other in maintenance of good academic environment. spirited academic competition among themselves which always elevates the standard and the quality of education in every educational campus hence the friends plays the role of the second pillar of GNH. 4. Everyone is responsible for his academic growth without stress. A student who always wishes to be free in expressing his views in the class room without destabilizing the culture of class room is acting as third pillar of GNH. Hence every living condition of any academic campus always aimed to promote happiness among themselves and also for the contribution of the development of the country in preserving its culture and promoting the economic development. Always there is a possibility of small errors in destabilizing the living conditions of any academic campus but if we look at the larger picture of our country always possible to eradicate the small errors and bring oneness among all people of the country.
