Should you be elected, what are three specific areas youd like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it?: The City needs to get back to the basics of maintaining the Citys streets, water lines, sanitary sewer lines and storm sewers thru sound financial planning and adhering to Chardons Financial Management & Debt Policy. Review City income tax collection policies and procedures and take an aggressive approach to collecting delinquencies to ensure that everyone is paying their fair share. Encourage economic development and a business friendly atmosphere while still preserving our small town charm. The goal is to get the businesses to locate in Chardon and begin generating revenue and creating jobs. By eliminating as much as possible any unnecessary City fees and costly regulations as a business considers locating in Chardon, the City will benefit in the long run as City income tax revenue is generated each year on net profits and employee wages.

Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you? As the Citys former Finance Director and Tax Administrator for over 26 years and the Clerk of Council for over 22 years, I am the most knowledgeable candidate when it comes to municipal finance, making me uniquely qualified to serve the residents of Chardon. As Finance Director I initiated and prepared Chardons 5-year Capital Improvement Program; submitted to Council balanced budgets for 27 straight years; earned the Ohio Auditor of State Award for exemplary financial reporting; initiated and wrote Chardons Financial Management & Debt Policy; and was instrumental in securing a three-level upgrade in Chardons Standard & Poors long-term debt rating (AA-). As a member of Council I will continue to demonstrate the honesty, integrity and work ethic that I displayed as Finance Director.
