The Armed Forces Programme is a six month, fully residential program of IIMA which imbibes concepts and analytical skills in management to these officers and develops multifaceted leadership skills required for modern day organizations. Officers of the Indian Armed Forces form a rich arsenal of proven leadership skills, combat experience and managerial ability. This, combined with their discipline, dedication, ethical values and 'never say die' attitude, makes them capable for any field, be it defence or the corporate world. Besides, the Armed Forces equip them with quality training and a wholesome approach, that sets them apart from the crowd, anywhere and in any situation. Many officers undertake the transition to the corporate world every year - often in the prime of their lives - after their initial contractual engagement is over. These are highly trained and committed leaders who aspire to contribute with their professional skills in the corporate world. IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA), the premier management institute in the country, has specially designed the curriculum for the six month full-time residential course in business administration, which is aimed at honing their skills for the corporate world. The renowned faculty of IIMA has imparted knowledge in areas like Operations, HRM, Marketing, Project Management, Corporate Finance and Strategy. Prof Pradyumana Khokle Prof Shailesh Gandhi We are pleased to present the fifth batch of 42 officers from Armed Forces who have undergone six months fully residential programme in Business Administration at IIM-Ahmedabad. The programme is designed to augment and adapt their varied experience to management of business. In addition to foundation courses and a number of specialised & advance courses in management, the curriculum provides a detailed exposure to the participants in business management framework, concepts, tools and analysis. This batch of officers is a blend of rich experience and professionalism. Armed with the knowledge and skills of management practices, the participants are well equipped to take on the challenges of business organizations. The training imparted at the IIM-A has facilitated in sharpening their skills and would pave the way for their smooth transition from the defense environment to the business context. Programme Structure
The six months " Business Management Programme" for the Armed Forces participants constitutes rigorous case based study electives and individual research projects. Case methods system forms the backbone of the Programme, combined with discussions, group dynamics building games and lectures. Spread over six months and 322 sessions, the process of unlearning and learning is implemented brick by brick. The program lucidly crystallizes the concepts of analytical knowledge of the students for managerial effectiveness. The course integrates the management skill sets of the participants and their experience from the Armed Forces to be put into effective and judicious use in the corporate sector there by transforming them into effective managers.
