. Hillcrest Transitional Housing Work Day . Donate Your Unneeded Vehicle

This week your donations allowed a man to have gas money so he could travel to work and helped an elderly couple with their electric bill.

WOLC partners with Hillcrest to provide fully furnished, rent-free apartments to four homeless families each year. Volunteers are needed for cleaning, painting, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, dry wall, flooring, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, etc. Call Megan Taylor at the church office for more information. Hey, heres a thought coming into the 4th quarter of 2013. If you have a vehicle you dont need that has a clear title - like a car, truck, boat, motorcycle, or RV - why not donate it to Word of Life Church? Your donation will be sold to raise money to help fund the work of the church, and youll get a gift letter for the sale amount. Just contact the church office at 816-233-6367 for more information about this great way to help our church.

.EVENTS Octoberfest 2013

THIS Saturday, October 5, 6-9 PM

Word of Life's annual fall festival will feature a giant corn maze and tons of hot dogs, brats, popcorn, cider, and funnel cakes. We'll have hayrides, games for the kids, live music, and much more for an evening of fun for everyone. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, and invite friends, coworkers, and perfect strangers!

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

. More Small Group Opportunities

The Joseph Company is our monthly servantleadership session to help equip women and men who are passionate about being effective for the Kingdom of Jesus, every day of the week. Well feature a DVD-based presentation, THE POWER TO ACT, from Pranitha Timothy. Pranitha serves as Director of Aftercare for International Justice Mission a human rights agency that rescues victims of slavery and sexual exploitation in India. Pranitha has been directly involved in providing thousands of people with the skills they need to live in freedom and to heal from the trauma of slavery. We always enjoy plenty of small group time, as well as a seriously good free home-cooked breakfast. We encourage you to RSVP at the church office. We have three more small groups starting in October covering themes like parenting, living in spiritual community, and gratitude. Small groups are a great way for all of us to make friends and grow in the faith. For more information and to register, check out the Small Groups table in the foyer this weekend.

The Missouri Heart Gallery exhibition is coming to the Word of Life main foyer in just a few weeks. The gallery will display stirring portraits of kids in foster care awaiting a home with an adoptive family, and is a compelling representation of the many Missouri children who are looking for forever families. The Heart Gallery exhibition also will provide adoption information and help prospective adoptive and foster parents begin the process.
