Our own African Bensouda is a victim of circumstances .Let us save her!

I empathize with Bensouda because she is a victim of circumstances .Let's take ICC as a company.A CEO who is retiring (Moreno Ocampo) misleads the board to adopt a 10 year strategic plan (Kenyan Case) that will take the company according to him (Ocampo) to greater heights! What the board doesn't realize is that the CEO (Ocampo) wants to retire in style and that's why he carefully crafted an intelligently misleading plan that the board naively adopted and hailed the (CEO) Ocampo as a visionary leader when he retired .Of importance to note is that the strategic plan was not actually prepared by the CEO (Ocampo) himself but it was prepared by some Research students (KNHCR/AFRICOG) who were graduating and the CEO (Ocampo) adopted it wholly without questioning /editing because it was a very romantic and promising strategy .The CEO (Ocampo) also saw into it a honorable/successful exit strategy where he will always be hailed as a visionary. Ocampo also saw the opportunity to ensure that the next CEO after him fails miserably so that he will be remembered as the only successful CEO the company has ever employed. Come June 2012 and the board promoted a senior manager (Bensouda) to the position of the company CEO .One of the key instructions to the incoming CEO was to ensure that the 10 year strategic plan was implemented .The board promised to support the new CEO in any way they could as according to them the implementation of the strategic plan would ensure they achieve what they have never achieved since setting up the company. One of the key reasons why Bensouda was picked as the CEO was her familiarity with the market (Africa) which was core to the success of the strategic plan. Another reason was that her being an African the market (Africa) would embrace her in totality. The board wanted her to be the face of the company especially during this period of the strategic plan. The new CEO (Bensouda) was very flattered and excited by the new strategic plan that was now her responsibility to ensure its success. She was also flattered by the major support promised by the board and its friends (western nations) to ensure that the strategic plan was implemented into totality. What both the board and Bensouda couldnt see with their bare eyes or voluntarily failed to see was that the strategic plan was not meant to serve the interests of the company but that of the graduating students (KNHCR/AFRICOG/POLITICIANS) and their friends (Western Nations) Bensouda now is a frustrated CEO because to implement the plan has been a nightmare for her and she has now resulted to all manner of explanations as to why she cant fully implement the strategic plan. It has become clear to her that the strategic plan will fail and she has resulted to creating all manner of excuses accusing our President and Deputy President of witnesses interference, non- cooperation by Kenyan authorities, threatening Kenyan bloggers and journalists etc. These are all attempts to explain to the board why the plan is not being implemented fully.

I sympathize with our own African Bensouda and I feel she needs to do either of the following for her to be successful as the ICC CEO: 1. Drop the companys 10 year strategic plan (KENYAN CASE) and come up with her own strategic plan that she can implement E.g pay a visit to Syria ,Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya etc. 2. Drop the 10 year strategic plan (Kenyan Case) and resign from the company while strongly condemning the way in which outsiders (western nations) have a strong hand in the way things are done in the company. She has to state clearly that these outsiders are only there to promote their interests while at the same time reiterating the need of the company not to only focus on traditional markets (Africa) but also other new markets like Europe, America where they can make super profits! 3. Seek and advocate for the winding up of the company (ICC) and the need for rebranding to establish a new company as brand ICC is no longer a selling brand !

Let us all Africans unite and save one of us (Bensouda) from failing by asking her to do one of the above things. After all #WeAreOne
