Fall 2013 LUAA Board of Directors Meeting The Association of Student Alumni Report The Association of Student Alumni

currently has several projects underway for the Fall 2013 semester. In the last month and a half, ASA has executed and/or participated in several projects/initiatives. This includes the First-Year Alumni Rally and Induction for the Class of 2017, the First-Annual Homecoming Rally, and the Great Pocono Escape. In the efforts of Campus Outreach we are sponsoring Trivia Night in Hawks Nest on October 3rd as a Lehigh After Dark event. We hope to both bolster student spirit as well as gain greater recognition amongst the First-Year students. Upcoming we have the reprise of the Founders Day Photo Projecttaking place during the week leading up to the celebrationduring which we ask students, faculty, staff, and alumni on campus to scribe his/her favorite Lehigh Memory, what he/she loves most about Lehigh, etc. Each day the photos will be updated on the ASA Tumblr as well as be shown during Founders Day. We have also begun the planning of this years LehighLafayette Week. The committee meetings are underway and we are working on finalizing a schedule that will include the LU Dance Marathon, the Rally with Lehigh-Laf-a-Palooza, a Senior Class Gift event, a carnival on the UC Front Lawn, Bed Races, and a Student-Alumni BBQ. In addition, we are working to increase our off-campus involvement with Alumni as well. We are sponsoring a group of ASAs to attend a Lehigh Club of Philadelphia CONNECTIONS series event entitled Navigating the Non-Profit Community. There are several other events that are in the preliminary stages of planning as well. Finally, we are in the midst of new member recruitment and will have a list of ten to fifteen new ASAs by October 8th. As for our future goals, we are working very hard to better the overall morale of the current ASAs as well as their commitment to our organization. Through the optimization of individual roles in the planning and execution of events, we are working to ensure that each member of ASA as well as the executive board is being fully utilized. On the outward side of affairs, our Alumni Engagement Committee wants to put together more events that pair Alumni and current students in more relaxed social settings together. This may include a bowling night, trivia, etc. Our Campus Outreach Committee is looking to get involved in more Service Learning endeavors both here in Bethlehem as well as abroad. Finally, a major theme for this year stems from the new bLUeprint model adopted by many offices and organizations here at Lehigh. Trips such as the Great Pocono Escape and cross-organizational meetings have sparked a desire to better the Collaborative Connections between formally disparate student organizations. These organizations include Student Senate, IFC, PanHellenic Council, University Productions, and Student Athlete Council. Overall, we are unbelievably excited for rest of the year with so many great initiatives underway. As for support from LUAA, a greater involvement from alumni is always an imperative for ASA. We constantly look for new and exciting ways to get alumni connected with students whether it is just here at Lehigh or off-campus. ASA holds many events that are meant for Alumni it is often difficult to get higher solidified numbers in attendance. I believe LUAA can help enhance our connections and participation with and from alumni. Jacob Silber 14 President of the Association of Student Alumni
