GITEX ramps up ROI with GITEX 2013 plethora of new innovations HIGHLIGHTS
Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has revealed that GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2013 will be the most comprehensive edition in the events history. Under the theme Lets Create, Disrupt and Re-imagine Together, the 33rd edition of the event runs from October 20-24 at DWTC, with Dubai Internet City (DIC) as a strategic partner and Serbia as the official country partner. The event organisers optimism comes as the local IT market continues to go from strength to strength; the latest forecast by Gartner suggests that IT spend in the Middle East will hit US $192.9 billion in 2013, up 5.5% from last year. DWTC also stated that GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEKS reputation for shaping the Middle East Africa and South Asia (MEASA) regions Information and Communication Technology (ICT) agenda is largely attributable to an enduring ability to deliver unbeatable industry insights and strong returns on investment (ROI). Now established as MEASAs top ICT event, and one of the most influential in the world, the 5-day event attracted 139,000 ICT professionals from 144 countries in 2012. Last years Where Technology Means Business tagline proved apt, with 61% of c-level executive visitors boasting procurement budgets of over US $5 million, while 18% had budgets between US $1 million and US $5 million; 13% were prepared to spend US $500,000; and 8% had up to US $500,000. The average deal struck at GITEX 2012 either met or exceeded ROI expectations. With 95% of exhibitors planning to return this year, and a host of newcomers from across the world already signed up, Trixee Loh, Senior

TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2013 is a superb platform for us to demonstrate Qualcomms latest innovations. As well as bolstering this years edition with new features, Dubai World Trade Centre has pulled out the stops to enhance its existing industry sectors. The Network & Security Sector is looking forward to welcoming the worlds top names dealing with biometric technologies, anti-virus/ anti-spam solutions, security tools and services. Top of the agenda will be the regions ever-increasing vulnerability to cyber-attacks. Last years Norton Cybercrime Report found that more than 1.5 million people in the UAE alone were affected by cybercrime in the past 12 months, resulting in AED 1.039 billion in direct financial losses. With the smart card revolution continuing apace, retail banks, telecom operators, governments and large corporations alike are eagerly anticipating GITEX Card Technology, which covers everything from Near Field Communication to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). GITEX Consumer Tech, meanwhile, serves up its customary dazzling lineup of entertainment and leisure hardware, software and accessories. Highlights will include software, gaming accessories, headphones, MP3 and MP4 players, streaming video and video management solutions. As the trade event with the highest government participation in the region, the show has high hopes for the Government sector, which will be packed with ministries, regulatory authorities, free zones and CERTs from the Middle East. As usual, mobility is likely to prove a big draw. The Qualcomm-sponsored GITEX Mobile, Apps & Content World is now the Middle Easts most successful event of its kind, connecting key players and educating attendees about the latest industry developments through forums such as the increasingly popular Mobile App Debates. Further telecommunications insights can be gleaned at the TRAendorsed GULFCOMMS, where representatives and thought leaders will debate the future of the regions telecommunications industry. In addition to the GSMA Mobile 360 Series, GITEX is delighted to welcome InfoComm MEA for the third successive year. The event assembles the widest range of audio visual (AV) systems and technologies found in the hospitality, retail, architecture, entertainment, broadcast, corporate IT and government sectors.

Firstly, show signage will be further improved. The concourse area running along the IFMEA halls will be clear and branded with large IFMEA banners and video walls. Secondly, there will be an even smoother and more seamless flow of traffic between GITEX and InfoComm MEA. Thirdly, a second entrance into the InfoComm MEA hall will provide completely unobstructed connectivity between GITEX and the show, with custom carpeting welcoming GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK visitors to the show. InfoComm MEA 2013s location in Sheikh Saeed Hall, opposite Hall 1, will also be publicised in pre-show promotional materials, as well as in all on-site GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK signage. An extensive promotional campaign has been underway for some time. A visitor database of over 100,000 has been validated, to which print and direct e-mails have been dispatched over a number of months. In addition, the organisers are working with various trade media to place editorials and advertisements that will raise awareness of the event. Press releases and advertisements in the regions newspapers have also extended the shows reach and helped boost awareness. Co-located with GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK from 20-24 October 2013, InfoComm MEA 2013 will present the latest professional audio-video equipment, both for enterprises and the entertainment segments, from leading manufacturers from all over the world. There will also be an accompanying Summit program of seminars, conferences and presentation on market trends and technology developments.
