This synopsis report is an outcome of the semester project which we have gone through at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon We would like to express deep sense of gratitude towards Mr. Chandra Shekhar Singh(Assistant Professor, ECE), our project guide who permitted us to undergo this project. We would also like to express our special thanks to Mr. Ajit Kumar(Assistant Professor, ECE), our class counseller for helping us in understanding the technical aspects of this project. It is a great pleasure to express our heart full thanks to the staff of Department of Electronics and Communication, DCE-GGN who helped us directly or indirectly throughout the successful completion of our project.

Abstract
Independence and confidence are building methodologies in achieving your dreams and goals in life. Visually impaired persons find themselves challenging to go out independently. There are about 12 million visually impaired or blind people in this world who are always in need of helping hands. For many years the white rod has been the most commonly used travel aid by the blind. The biggest disadvantage is that the user has to be trained a lot and the user is forced to scan manually the vicinity for obstacles. "Success comes in cans, failure comes in cants". Gulping this energy capsule we came up with a dream device for the blind I-Rod.... the only rod in this world with intelligence. I-rod, which we will create, answers all the problems that the blind face very intelligently. This paper starts with very brief introduction about the description of the I-rod. This paper also deals with the next version of Ultra-rod with a single wheel design. The main idea behind this paper is to contribute our service to the blind society and helping them with the little knowledge that we have. We feel that it is the duty of those blessed with the power of vision and knowledge to contribute and help the blind and other deprived people in their lives. This paper also deals with the next version of I-Rod with a single wheel design, the ultra rod. The drawbacks of the I-Rod lead to invent the Ultra rod. With little technology and flexibility to the users, there came ultra rod. Detailed explanation of the individual parts and Dos and Donts of it is discussed. The main idea behind this paper is to contribute our service to the blind society and helping them with the little knowledge that we have. We feel that it is the duty of those blessed with the power of vision and knowledge to contribute and help the blind and other deprived people in their lives.

Introduction
Visual impairment means vision loss not totally blind at which the person needs a support and is caused by disease like trauma, degenerative conditions or innate has no remedy to cure by medicine or surgery. In a stable exchange of energy, in sequence with environment and substances human body is an open biosystem it is extract from the significance of sensorial and communication functions. The human being receives information from the environment: 1% by taste, 1.5% by tactile sense, 3.5% by smell, 11% by hear and 83% by sight, For the happy life and a proficient reintegration of the visually impaired in the family and society, it is strongly needful to put back the totally lost functions or to support their diminished functions like low vision. Thus, a new branch of technology and engineering is developing Assistive Technology, meaning any product, instrument, equipment or technical system used by a disabled person, especially produced or generally available, preventing, compensating, relieving or neutralizing the impairment, disability or handicap. To support and help the visually impaired persons in their daily life activities such as movement from one place to another is not unexpected for engineers. Navigation in unfamiliar spaces is a problem for the visually impaired, use tactile and sense, they cant move freely in new environment. So applications that support navigation in unfamiliar places are very helpful for the visually impaired. The embedded system accommodates the design of a navigation system to help the low visions to navigate easily is the integration of current technology such as position identification, obstacle or hazards recognition. There are some important drawbacks of these usual and oldest mobility aids (White cane, guide dogs, Geotact, Tom Pouce, Teletact II) are training phase, motion range, necessary skills, and information conveyed in a very diminutive amount.

In this project we are using an IR transmitter and Receiver circuit based path clearing assist stick. Path clearing assist stick is used to detect any obstacles. If any obstacle is found, the IR light will be reflected back and sensed by IR receiver and sends a signal to the buzzer driver circuit, which produces buzzer sound near hand

This projects works very well even in night and day timings, irrespective of the lighting intensity. This project is reliable and effective. This project uses regulated 5V, 750mA power supply. Unregulated 12V DC is used for relay. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer. This project can be powered by a simple 9V battery also for portability.

Applications/Conclusion
The intelligent walking aid has been developed using the ultra sound transmitter and receiver of 40 kHz, a scanning system using stepper motor and discrete electronics. The aid will be definitely helped to the blind persons. They are suffering a lot from difficulties in walking. The system detects the objects before 1 meter and makes him alert. The vibration feelings on his hand and the sound alert in the ear make him aware of the object. The wireless headphone facility is more useful for hi him and also very convenient to use. If it s using a headphone with wire it will not be comfortable and if the headphone pin is removed from the socket, the user will struggle to plug it inside. The 9 volt battery used here is the whole receiver unit, is light weight and easy to carry. The vibration alert by the dc motor is kept very near to handle so thatit can feel the sensation easily on palm. The scanning unit rotate the whole transmitter and receiver section such that alert around the person is possible, not only a single line detection The system may need some advancement according to the future needs and necessity of the blinds. It can be made detect the object, and can inform the person about how much is the distance from the person. It will be more helpful when multiple objects are there and the system can inform about them separately, these are left for future work. The proposed design will soon be further enhanced.
