20009 JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Reports to: Tour of Duty: Driver (Part-time) Executive Director M F Mornings and Afternoons (30 hours per week)

BASIC FUNTIONS

Incumbent provides transportation services to Center participants to and from their homes to enable them to attend the Center. Incumbent also provides escort and transportation to seniors to and from appointments on as needed basis. B. AUTHORITY / ACCOUNTABILITY

The Driver shall be accountable to the Executive Director. The Driver carries out assigned responsibilities in coordination with Lead Driver. Incumbent must carry out his/her duties in accordance with the objectives, procedures, and policies established by D.C. Office on Aging, the Executive Director, and Vidas Board of Directors. C. 1. DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES Responsible for the security of the passengers. Driver must encourage courtesy among passengers. Incumbent makes sure that priority use and sitting is given to people with disabilities. Responsible for cleaning inside of vehicle after each run to be ready for reuse. Return of a dirty vehicle can result in corrective action against the last driver who used the vehicle. Responsible for ensuring that alcohol and other drugs are not used on the bus. Any violation to this rule must be reported immediately, in writing, to the director. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary actions to include termination. Prior to driving vehicle, perform visual inspection to ensure vehicles fitness, to include gas, tires, wipers, and that the vehicle is free of mechanical/electrical problems that can be identified with a visual inspection.

Ensures that vehicle is not kept out overnight without the permission of the Director. In addition, ensures that vehicle is locked when returned to the center each night after daily runs. Return promptly to the Center all valuables and personal items left in the van by the passengers. At the beginning of every fiscal year, provide the agency with a traffic record report and Police record. Abide by the D.C. Government Traffics laws and rules. Have knowledge of what to do with the bus and clients in case of an accident. Notify the Director in case of any emergency immediately, and follow up with a written report with details of the accident. Provide written report to Director within 24-hours of incidents/accidents occurring in the bus. Report in writing to the Director all incidents or altercations involving the participants and or guest while being transported in a vehicle owned/rented by the agency. Do pick ups and drop off, as assigned. Assist seniors with food distribution. Incumbent is prohibited from accepting money or tips from participants. Failure to do so may result in corrective actions including termination. Work closely with other appropriate staff in documenting and completing all required reports and statistics. This may include assisting with documentation and/or locating needed information. If units of services other than transportation are performed (e.g., health promotion, recreation) those units must be reported within 24-hours of service deliver. Complete all transportation statistical reports on time. Prepares a weekly statistical report on participants transported by the Center. Ensures that participants sign the transportation log and observe all the safety and transportation rules set by the Center. In addition, prepares weekly/monthly mile/gas usage report for the director before requesting petty cash for gas. Keeps a maintenance log for all the vehicles operated by the Center and takes the appropriate action to ensure that vehicles are maintained and operated only in a safe condition. Performs any other duty as assigned by Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: Have CDL license and maintain a valid drivers license and have an acceptable record as a driver in the District of Columbia. Have at-least 5 years of driving experience. Must be to deal with people of different backgrounds, be courteous, dress cleanly, be punctual, treat seniors with respect at all times, and be patient. Ability to communicate in writing and complete required reports. Able to submit annually copy of driving record in order to obtain approval by insurance company. Capacity to quickly understand oral/written instructions.
