4. Separating load (Fa) acts on the brake on the back side of each side gear (5) to generate braking torque.

Input power to the differential is divided evenly between the right and left wheels by the differential gear. When one wheel turns with less effort, than th t wheel that h l will ill t turn f faster t ( (slip), li ) surplus l driving force is transmitted to the opposite side brake (1&2) through the brake and case on the gear back side. Power is now distributed to the side that is pulling. The differential effect starts working only when this surplus portion of the drive force has exceeded the braking force. force

The brake valve is installed under the cab on the left side toward the front Pressing a brake pedal conducts oil to the brake piston to apply the brakes. The left side and right side brake pedals are mechanically interlocked. Pressing one of the pedals operates the other pedal at the same time. As the brake pedal is pressed, the transmission cut-off oil pressure sensor is operated, signaling the transmission controller to set the transmission in neutral electrically.

Brake is applied : When the brake pedal is pressed, pressurized oil from the brake valve presses piston (2) forward to apply the brake disk pack. Rotating inner disk (4) is pressed against fixed outer disk (3). The spring between each outer disk are compressed.
Brake is released : when the brake pedal is released, oil from the brake piston (2) flows b fl back kt to t tank k through th h th the b brake k valve. l The springs between each outer disk pushes the brake piston bake to release outer (3) and inner disk (4). The brake lining on the inner disk (4) has cross grooves to support the oil flow for cooling the brake lining.

Check brake disk wear : Front and rear axle housings are equipped with brake wear indicators. Method : 1. Remove cap(1). 2. Lightly press the brake pedal to the stroke end. 3. While shaft (2) is pushed in, measure projection (x) (wear volume) from guide (3) using a slide caliper T. * Keep pressing the brake pedal during measurement. * If shaft (2) is projected from the end of guide (3) to the groove on it, replace the disc. Wear (x): Max. 2.4 mm 4. After testing, return cap (1). Cap (1): 29 29.4 4 39.2 39 2 Nm {3 {3.0 0 4.0 4 0 kgm}

Oil pressure in passage (B) is higher than set pressure of relief valve (1), piston (2) is pushed right by oil pressure in passage (B) (B). Relief valve (1) opens and oil passage (C) is now connected to port (T). Oil from the pump flows through orifices (a) and (b) and oil passage (C) to port (T). Oil pressure across orifice (a) is reduced, a P between chambers (D) and (E) is produced. When pressure in chamber (D) becomes greater than set pressure of priority valve (5), valve (5) moves to the right. The open area on the side of port (P) and orifice (c) is reduced and port (P) is connected to port (A) gradually. The oil from the pump flows through port (P), sequence valve (7), and port (A) to the cooling fan motor. 22/32

Pump
Relief valve (1) has closed passage (C) back to tank (T). Priority valve (5) is pushed to the left by spring force. Oil from port (P) flows across orifice (c ) and check valve (8) to the ports (ACC1) and (ACC2) as well to chamber (B). WA380,430,470-6
The supplied quantity of oil to the accumulators is determined by orifice (a) and the pressure in (E) plus spring force (6).
23/32
The pressure in passage (C) has reached relief pressure and opens relief valve (1). The oil in passage (C ) in drained to tank (T). The priority valve (5) moves to the right because of the pressure loss in chamber (E). The oil supply to chamber (B) is stopped. WA380,430,470-6 24/32

Accumulator for rear brake Two way check valves The purpose is to eliminate pressure pulsations while the brake pressure inside the brake valve is adjusted. The oil flow to the brake is reduced with a 2.2mm orifice. The return flow is across orifice and check valve. WA380,430,470-6 30/32
