bama shocked the USA in 2008, when he won the presidential election against Senator John McCain. It was a moment that almost all Americans could take pride in. Here was a man who had gone to Harvard, authored several books, became a senator and spoke at my high school. Now he was at Grant Park and won the election. I was extremely glad I voted for him, and liked to think that a part of his victory was thanks to my vote. We are now at a much different moment in history, in the year 2013. Its the end of September and it looks like there will be another government shutdown. The media is painting this like its the end of the world. There is a stalemate between the dems and reps and neither one wants to compromise. I would, under many other circumstances be irked by this forthcoming. Id be nervous about what this means, but the economy is bad and so bad that I dont think it could get much worse.

I learned an important lesson in kindergarten, it was that you cant take what isnt yours. You can share, but if you take what isnt yours thats called stealing. Why do I get the feeling these days that the government is stealing my money? Is it because its true? Stealing is related to fiscal responsibility. Because when you dont have enough money to afford something, you shouldnt take out more than you take in! Yet the we are trillions of dollars in debt right now. And despite Obamas Ivy-League education he doesnt seem to understand the main point of fiscal responsibility.

he affordable care act is a either a bad joke or its patently impractical. Let me make tell you a short story. I hurt my foot recently and went in to the hospital. I was told to go to the emergency room because that was the only place where I could receive care. It was an interesting experience, not only because I was asked to pay before I received care. I was reminded of having lunch at McDonalds never mind that this was a hospital I was at, devoid of aromas. The copay was 100 dollars. Its a lot of money, but its something I could afford. I paid if off doing two days of stocking at the local shopping mall. They took x-rays of my foot and turned out it was fine. What I would like to take away from this story is the cost of care. If it costs me 100 dollars to get one visit to

the hospital, how the heck am I going to be able to afford what Obama wants us all to spend on Healthcare per year $300? (administrated by the IRS, do I have that right?) Its just pathetic that its called a tax, though it will formally be called a fine. Ill submit to the law that if you park in a handicap space you have to pay a fine. Fair is fair, but no way am I going to support a law that frames me as a jailbreaker just because I choose not to agree with it. Health insurance companies do not need to be run by the government. They make way too much money as it is. The government is another strong force, and as they say absolute power corrupts; its just a poor idea. I dont care jack that it worked for Romney, federal government is a totally different animal than state government. They should not be mingled. Again, absolute power corrupts. There is a control in the government called the system of checks and balances, lets use it.

ope and change. Now if only Romney used that slogan in the 2012 presidential election, he might have won! All joking aside, I have to give Obama a lot of credit for this slogan. I dont know if it originated with him or it was Mr. Axelrods idea, but it has a ring to it. We were at a tough time back in 2008. The elections couldnt come soon enough as I recall. We wanted change because George Bush wasnt getting any more popular as president in his second term. His poor speech was getting old, at first it was funny, now the novelty was gone. The prospect of Obama turning the economy around was a bright one. Here was a man who had public speaking down. He had a strong voice and a casual way of communicating that put a lot of people at ease. At the end of Obamas first term, however, the campaign slogan didnt mean much. Many people were left wondering, what had

changed? The economy was still in the dumps, the stimulus bill drove up the debt even more, and still the government was spending up a storm. When you keep spending but never stop, you start to go insane. They say insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result the second time. America has an insane government. My younger brother will probably be paying for the current administration after Im gone. Meanwhile, the government is living it up.

ay Marriage is a subject that may mean different things to different people. If I had to make a comment about how Obama handled this, I think he did a very poor job. First, Biden supported gays marrying, then Obama eventually went along with it. One thing that I continually notice about Obama is he is a man of consensus. He must never have heard the phrase fortune favors the bold. Any phrase that the president says has an incredibly profound, influential effect. He is many things, the commander in chief, the leader of the executive branch and that guy who you would hope you get the chance to see on a White House tour. Beyond that, he is a role model for the next generation. When he says for example, X is good, or X is bad, we each get the feeling, hes right so we should believe X. To make a comment on Gay Marriage like he did, on an issue that isnt agreed upon by the majority (who last time I checked were straight and were

interested in straight marriage) there are several things that come to mind: 1. Why are you telling me and the rest of this democratic society what to believe? 2. Why are you advocating a lifestyle that is dangerous (that has been linked to AIDs)? 3. Is this really what you meant when you said change? Obama is obviously self-righteous. As a president, I imagine you need to be, to some extent. But does that really mean that you need to ask me and every other citizen to examine your conscience. ? Whether its about gun control or gay marriage, Obama has the right answer, strangely that isnt the case on his foreign policy decisions. Theres another questionwhy does Obama act like a pushover when hes confronted by foreign countries, but act uncompromising when hes addressing the American people?

xperience is that annoying thing that employers ask for. They want you to have experience in the field, but it goes against conventional wisdom. If you can never get a job because you dont have experience, how are you going to get experience? Catch 22, right?! Obama went to Harvard and learned about law. He was on the law review and he had a fine education on all things legal. But a lot of presidents arent just students, senators and authors before they were elected. JFK fought in the 2nd war, ditto Eisenhower. They were men who put themselves at the risk of serious injury to defend their country. They may not have known everything, but they had experience serving their country in a very real way, and the military teaches you very practical things that other jobs do not. Discipline, Communication, Commitment and Honor.

Because Obama was never in the military, every important lesson he could have learned in it, he cannot use as a tool in his toolkit. Ive heard law school teaches you how to argue and the finer points of persuasion. I would definitely say that Obama took scrupulous notes on this part of his education. But business sense, economics, these are very important subjects to know if you want to run the one country that has some of the best schools in the world.

016 is a long ways away. Three years from now is when the US will see another president elected. But if Obama resigned today, we wouldnt have to wait this long! We need a president who will not spend and spend with borrowed money! We need a president who will be more honest with the American people. Unemployment is high right now. I read a career book released about a month ago that most Americans who are unemployed have been for a year or more. This is too long. There are too many regulations.

The Obama Administration has created too many rules and regulations. The era of big government is over. Just because China does it doesnt mean we should (and I would argue does it to much better effect!).
