Submittals A. B. C. Shop drawings and product data in accordance with Section 15050. Manufacturer's installation instructions. Manufacturer's recommended spare parts and tools list. Operating maintenance data in accordance with manufacturer. Certificate of compliance for materials and operation. Field tests.

Product Handling A. Deliver all items and accessories in Manufacturer's original, protective packaging. Fire hose cabinets shall be shipped without door glass. Glass shall be shipped separately, properly packaged to prevent breakage. Store items and accessories as recommended by the Manufacturer above ground and in a dry place. Charged portable fire extinguishers shall not be stored in areas where the temperature would exceed 49 C. (120 F).

Part 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 Acceptable Manufacturers A. The Contractor shall submit to the Supervising Engineer the names of three manufacturers with specified model and specification and their products which will be acceptable under this Section. Approval of the manufacturer or product must be obtained before proceeding with associated work. Units shall be the product of a Manufacturer regularly engaged in the production of these units issuing complete catalog data for same. Items of same function and performance are acceptable.

Portable Hand Fire Extinguishers General A. Portable fire extinguishers shall be UL listed and FM approved. Installation of portable fire extinguishers shall be in accordance with NFPA 10. Acceptable Manufacturers: 1. AL BILAD 2. HEBA/GRINELL 3. Or approved equal

Types of Portable Fire Extinguishers 1. Multi-purpose dry chemical cartridge or stored pressure type labeled for Class A. B and C fires with red enamel galvanized cylinder, chrome valves, pressure gauge, hose and discharge horn, and complete with wall mounting brackets. Extinguishers shall be 7 kg. capacity.( FE-1) Carbon dioxide self-expelling type, 7kg capacity, for use in fighting class B:C fires. Body shall be of red enamel galvanized steel body, flexible hose and horn discharge, squeeze lever, carrying handle, pressure gage and mounting brackets. Extinguisher of this type is suitable for indoor use.(FE-2)

Standpipe System A. The automatic wet standpipe system, components and accessories shall conform with NFPA 14. Fire Hose Cabinets And Accessories FHC 1. Fire hose cabinet shall be surface & recess mounted type with right or left inlet as required. Door of cabinet shall be hinged type with Fire Hose Reel in Arabic and English in red lettering. Cabinet shall contain inlet valve, swinging hose rack, hose nozzle mounting brackets. For type of door and color, coordinate with the architect. Hose rack shall be manufactured of pressed brass castings with machined waterways and bearings, red cellulose steel discs, screw down chrome globe valve and plastic jet/spray nozzle. Reel shall be tested to 20 bar. Reel shall be swing type able to swing 180 degrees out of recess and run in any direction. Reel shall contain 30m of 40mm dia. two braid fabric reinforced hose to NFPA14 and UL & FM approved. Accessories shall include chrome plated on/off nozzle and nozzle locking device.

Part 3 - EXECUTION

3.01

Installation A. Install fire hose cabinets with cabinet top maximum 2.14 m above floor. Locate angle valve in cabinet maximum 1.60 m above floor. Fire hose cabinets shall be installed in strict accordance with the Manufacturer's recommendations and meet the requirements of NFPA 14. Installation of cabinets shall be plumb and square to allow door to swing freely.

. . 3.02 Pipe Identification And Color Coding A. B. Identify and color code pipe by applying Set Mark plastic markers. Markers shall follow the color code established by ASME and set forth in ANSI A13.1. Display the name of the material carried by the pipe, and indicate direction of flow. Place markers within 1.8 m of any equipment connections, close to branch connections and valves in mains, and within .91 m of wall, floor, roof or ceiling through which pipe passes. Do not space markers more than 15 m apart on any pipe. Identify and color code all pipes except pipes concealed in vertical masonry chases. In lieu of labels, stenciling and painting of equal quality may be substituted.

Valves, Controls, Etc., Identification Markers A. Tags shall be secured to components by brass bead chain in such a manner that identification cannot be removed without tools or partial disassembly of the component. Attachment shall not interfere with normal use, operation, or adjustment of component. Identifications shall be readily observable from normal inspection observation position. On overhead piping, the center face of the identification label shall be normal to a line of sight inclined 45 degrees above the horizontal where practical. Labels shall read axially along the piping. Markers shall be Brass Tags, 50 mm square, with 6.4 mm radius corners with 5 mm diameter drilled hole at center of one side, 5.6 mm to centerline. Stamped letters or numbers shall be 5 mm high, filled in with black paint. Component number shall appear on upper line and specific category designations shall be stamped below in one to three lines. Tags shall be attached to components with 6.4 mm pitch brass bead chain with brass connectors or rings as required. Attachment shall be such that tag and chain cannot be removed from component without use of tools.
