Defensive Practice Plan for: Monday, August 26, 2013 Next Opponent: Riverbank on th September 6 , 2013 Weeks Team

Objective: Continue installation of 34M-C2, review and improve individual defensive fundamentals. Days Team Objective: Position group members will understand the basics of defending the zone rune, and improve tackling and pursuit fundamentals. First period: EDDs & Individual skills in position group TIME: 00-15

Defensive Line (NTs & Ends) Weeks Objective: Understand and improve execution of two gap technique in odd front. Days Objective: Understand and improve execution of two gap technique in odd front vs. zone run game. 5 yard get offs w/ ball trigger [focus on stance, pre-snap hands] Quick hands & feet vs. sled [focus on fast and fluid engagement, extension and release]

Linebackers (inside & outside) Weeks Objective: Understand and improve execution of LB Triangle (Shedding blocks, pursuit, & tackling). Days Objective: Understand and improve execution of LB Triangle vs. zone run game. Tackling technique and angles. [Bull and pull/press at 45/duck rip vs. man w/ blocking pad, & Piano drill]

Defensive Backs (Corners & Safeties) Weeks Objective: Understand and improve execution of cover 2 defense. Days Objective: Understand and improve execution of individual techniques in cover 2 defense, flat and two high assignments Alignment, foot & hand work in cover 2 [focus on leverage, reroute, and retreat drop to cover flat

Second period: Competitive drills in groups TIME: 15-30

Pursuit w/ sled, 6 cones, trigger ball and coach indicator; Combine all but compete in groups vs. stopwatch. Different cone sets for each position group. [focus on coming to balance upon arrival]
